HQ: Ashur; Reclusiarch: infernus pistol, jump pack, melta bombs (175 pts)

Elites: Somnus, Memnoch and Sargon ; Sanguinary Priests: power weapons, jump packs and melta bombs (285 pts)

Troops: 3 Assault Squads: 10 marines, melta bombs, powerfist, 1x melta gun (690 pts)

Troops: Death Company: 10 marines, 1x thunder hammer, 2x powerfist, 1x power weapon (295 pts)

Troops: Marduk; Death Company dreadnaught: heavy flamer, magna grapple (150 pts)

Heavy Support: Hadad; Stormraven gunship: typhoon missile launcher, twin-linked lascannon, hurricane bolters (255 pts)

concept is to put the Reclusiarch with the Death Company and the DC dreadnaught in the Stormraven, have the sanguinary priests with the assault squads and rush everything in. Not sure how competitive it will be, but I think at least I'll have fun, and games should be decided pretty quick

I like it quite a bit. It's got some serious pain output and decent symmetry. Interesting Mesopotamean flavor. The dread should have a name, too.

I think the list looks pretty good. Tho i am not sure all the upgrades on the stormraven gunship are really needed.

I would really really like to see Seth in this list seeing as it is supposed to be a flesh tearers list and he is a pretty good Special Character.

Also if you put the reclusiarch with the Death Company he loses the mobility he has from the jump pack.

while I DO like Seth, I'm not a fan of using special characters (especially chapter masters) in non-apocalypse sized games. Obviously the Flesh Tearers could be an exception to this rule, since there are only 4 companies of them, but it still sits kind of wrong with me.

Also if you put the reclusiarch with the Death Company he loses the mobility he has from the jump pack.

this is a good point, the chappy's jump pack is a hold over from before I decided to kitbash up a stormraven, when the Death Company were all jump infantry as well. I can probably afford ditch it and throw another special weapon into the Death Company.

I don't know if all those points on the DC is the best idea. Maybe just a PF and a Thunder hammer. Usually you give one PF per squad just to help with walkers and high armor vehicles and whatnot.

Remember your fielding a troop that can have up to 29 characters in it? And you'r paying 95 points in upgrades on them. I think if your reclusiarch is with them, might as well spread around power swords instead of the thunder hammer and extra fist. I say just a power fist, and spend the other points elsewhere.

Unless your really partial to the Typhoon missile launcher I'd drop that as well. It's 25 points to upgrade from TL mm or Heavy Bolter, both are really good depending on what kind of army your facing. If you drop that Heavy Flamer on the Dreadnaught that saves another 25 points. Drop the Jump pack on the HQ thats 20?25 points?

So in total take off a few un-needed upgrades and you're looking at 155 points of extra (only leaving x1 power fist on the DC) That's enough for another Dreadnought or more troops.

Also why not try those amazing Blood Talons on your DC dreadnought, its a free upgrade and the special rules on them are amazing.

if your taking 10 Death Company, might as well get the two dreads because you can.

The purpose of argument is informative discourse, not to see who finishes in front.

Agree with dropping the jump pack on the reclusiarch, and that the DC are overloaded - since your chaplain has a PW and you've got loads of attacks re-rolling hits and wounds, 2 PF are plenty for the whole squad.

I also think that 3 sang priests are too many - you only have 3 squads that benefit from this, surely you can cover them simultaneously.

-JP for chaplain: 25
-1 priest: 95
-TH and PW on DC: 45

165 points, you could put an extra meltagun on each assault squad (I think the MBs there are a bit of a waste incidentally, PFs are better against anything but slow-moving land raiders) and still buy a couple land speeders or a small assault squad, either of which would benefit this list significantly.

Hope that helps!

I'm pretty partial to the typhoon launcher, since it's my only real ranged vehicle I'd like it to have as much versatility as possible.

fair enough points, I'll drop the extra CCWs. with the lost jump pack from the chaplain I can cram another DC squaddie into the stormraven and some more melta guns for the assault squads , at least.

Also why not try those amazing Blood Talons on your DC dreadnought, its a free upgrade and the special rules on them are amazing.

this does make a lot of sense, I think I was a bit over-concerned about having enough anti-tank in the army, but the extra melta guns in assault squad and the stormraven should make up for this.

another Dreadnought or more troops

my concern with adding another dread would be that it would have no way to reliably keep up with the other army, and would still be subject to the Rage rule. I think it would easily be picked off without being able to do much damage.

more troops, however, seems more viable.

I'l play around with the list a bit and post up my changes. thanks for the advice guys.
