The Blud Rehvens are a very special chapter of Sphess Muhreens who are good at zapping the nastybad enemy with their mindpowers Pew Pew! They are so special that no one knows who the daddy sphess muhreens are, not even the EMPRAH! But people think it's the Thousand sons because Blud Rehvens have lots of magic guys who shoot mind lazers at people! They even lead squads with Mind lazer shooting! They like reading and learning stuff a lot, but OH NO! The nastybad librarian went to kay-oss and got the 5th company pew pewed, so now they are emo and wear lots of emo stuff on their armour! Gabriel Angelos leads the 3rd company and he is the manliest sphess muhreenho kills Daemons and has a big hammer and blows up his planet and don't afraid of anything. Even Eldar girls have wet dreams about him! Indrick Boreal led the Blud Rehvens on Kronus, but he is deaded now because his Steel Rehn didn't work :(, even though many of his battle brothers were stehtioned in Sphess ready for multiple Sim-ul-tae-nious and deady deep strikes! And all Blud Rehvens carry MULTILAZORS (which pleases them), and their terminators who fight for the emprah are bestest budies with Karskin and do backflips and ride Land raiders that transform into Razorbacks then back into Land raiders HURR!!!!

That would clear it up...

...if it was right!

But it is WRONG!

They are NOT a Raven Guard successor.

They do NOT know where they come from.

And the most popular theory?

They come from, gasp!, Thousand Sons geneseed!

After reading thousand sons, the whole things seems written on the wall that they are T-Sons loyalists, lol.

It is too bad they didnt become such snappy dressers like their chaos converted brethren though

Part 1: The History of the Blood Ravens. A short essay by sarge stokes.

End part 1.

Part 2: Blood Ravens. Multiple thoughts are had about the blood angles and the thousand sons.

End part 2.

Part 3: (editor's commentary)

What are the thoughts? Nobody knows. If we told you what the thoughts were, we might have a post worth putting on the internet, or a discussion thread.
The Blood Angels. Dark cousins of the Blood Angels, and rumored cohorts of the Dark Angles, little is known about them. Unsubstantiated rumors indicate that they are strongly connected to the minor chaos god of obtuseness, while the Dark Angles might be aligned with a being of acuteness.

Only time will tell whether or not sarge stokes will decide to post anything that means anything.

My only question is if they came from the thousand sons how the heck did they escape prospero. The Wolves where pretty thorough, and most of the thousand sons where either dead or with the last bit that got sucked into choas. And if any didn't get sucked in I think the Wolves would have made short work of them. Thats just my two cents, but Retribution's idea is pretty solid.

Ha! That does work well here, doesn't it?

And, by saying they 'came from the Thousand Sons', it just means that, maybe, they came from their Geneseed.

So high up muckity mucks on Terra have stocks of ALL the original 20's Geneseed sealed up somewhere.

They probably had a crisis and had to 'dip into' the Traitor stocks, so they picked the ones that were the least bad?

Of course, why they picked the one most prone to mutation too is odd...

May explain the higer amount of librarians in the chapter though.

From a black libary book I own it guesses at that Blood Ravens could be a cross between both Raven Guard and Blood Angels.
An experimental founding possibly? Of cross-overs?
But it is only hinted at.
And I would like to add that My DIY chapter's Fluff states that they are also of this founding.

There is a reference in thousand sons that points to in a vague manner that something befell some soldiers (who has a group that had something to tohe wonderful psyker know-how, got pulled into the warp for a few thousand years, and then spit back out long after the rest of their legion had turned traitor.

Well if we ever played an Ultrasmurfs RTS we'd only need to field one unit to win

Gene-seed stocks on Terra of course and there may have been some aboard the fleet that escaped, before the Wolves arrived. There is also the chance that some of them left the Eye before the Rubric was enacted.

Right this is the third time of me typing this out again. (laptop fails)
pg 211 of Warior Coven

The libraians of the Blood Ravens were constantly in search of clues to the origin of thier mysterious Chapter, and one of the working hypotheses was that it was a hybrid of the Blood Angels and the Raven Guard. Although the theory was no longer taken very seriously, since it apeared to be based more on linguistic coincidence than sound historical evidence, Atreus was not entirely comfortable to hear both Chapters maligned at the same time. His insticts were defensive, and he wondered if that in itself was significant.

Now you could take the point of that this theory is no longer taken seriously anymore and just ignore this and assume that this was just filler in the book.
I couldn't be bothered to write the build up to this extract to make it make more sense as it a page and a half more to write.
And I like the idea of cross-over chapters, because of the possiblity for interesting chapters.
So yeah there you go, although it doesn't really support what i said....

BTW all the edits are mostly because i re-checked the book and found that i missed something or that i thought of something else to add to the bottom here.

you know what I did not post any of my thoughts so here are some of them if you disagree great tell me why I am wrong and what you think

sorry for any spelling error's that there may be as an ork has better english skills than I do

1. the blood ravens are from the times of the horus herasy they were a defence force from the thousend sons over time they started to recruit new marines from the planet and aventualy became about 300 marines strong when the thousend sons were declared heratics the defence force (still being loyal) severd all connections to the thousand sons and destroyed all evadence that acoceated to them they went into orbet launched exterminatus (destroying destroying any possible threat to there secret and went to go aid the emperor during there voyage they came across the blood angels who were down in nubers from a battle who were also heading to aid the emperor the defence force filled in the gap in numbers and when all the legens split into chapters ther blood ravens were formed

(number one is by far my favourate)

2. they were made by the inquastion using the thousend sons gene seed because of its extreme physkic power to fight the eldar

3. blood angles sucesser

4. inquastion strike force that turned into a chapter

Heck I'll kill a man in a fair fight, or if i think he's gonna start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman involved, or if im getting paid, mostly when I'm getting paid

Never take that book as fluff. That's what the second post of this thread was ranting about. C.S.Goto is an idiot and is a horrible writer. His ravings about the possible parent genes is silly at best. When a new Chapter is founded, they use ONE Parent Chapter's geneseed, not multiple.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Book of Epistles of Lorgar

Fine
But I'm keeping my chapter's backstory as having multible geneseed.
Also gives my more reason to use my Inquisition stuff as allies. To see if the experiment is worthwhile.
And to be honest all the fluff gets changed pretty much every time a new edition comes out. GW doesn't do consistant.
