I used the attach file thing at the bottom of the posting page, and uploaded a pic from my computer's "My pictures" folder, and there is just a big grey box where the picture should be.

Any tips on fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

It happens when you are using either corrupt images or images that are not compatible with standard JPEG.

Open your images in a program like photoshop, gimp, or one of the many other paint programs, and then just re-save it as .jpg (JPEG format).

Once you've done that you should be able to upload without any problems.
