There is alot of rumors floating around about the new gk dex...i was just curious whether anyone thinks that a Gk titan would be possible fluff wise? the justification for this would be when the emperor created the Gk's he specifically ordered a whole mechanicus task force of a huge number to be seconded to the Gk's answerable only to the grandmaster...

Another thing bothers me...Chaos has tons of daemon engines such as soul grinders and defilers so why doesnt the Gk have weapons to counter them? do you think they will receive weapons to counter armor?

no, GK do not have titans fluff wise. their main goal is killing daemons... not leveling cities. they don't need titans for this.

To counter armor, GK have dreadnoughts, and are equipped with chainfists. They also have rules for blessed weapons, which confer 2d6 armor penetration against posessed vehicles in hand to hand, as well as access to chainfists on their characters, and melta bombs on their sergeants.

GK's should be tooled up as a hand to hand army more than anything else, as thats where the majority of their strength is useful. It describes in the first grey knights book, how when grandmaster mandulis encountered the daemon ghargatuloth, he threw down his storm bolter, put his faith into the emperor, and charged the daemon, because he knew that not even holy bullets could wound it. They are always described as being unmatched in hand to hand combat, and they should get rules to support this.

If anything, I would say GK should get a thunderhawk in their codex, because that is more inline with their fluff than anything else. That, or drop pod rules. They are described as smashing into a chaos held world, deployed by teleportation, drop pod, or thunderhawk, fighting their way to the heart of the daemonic infestation, and killing whatever foul creature they find there. Minor things like soulgrinders and defiliers should all fall before their blades in hand to hand, or be destroyed by dreadnought / thunderhawk fire.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

There's a hint in the BA dex that grey knights might also have the stormraven.

Would say GK will have the rhino based vehicles, land raiders, dreads, termie and power armor, (stormraven), T-Hawk.
Maybe some of the rare psi-titans are available to them as support units against demon-engines.

Seems the theme of the GK should be as fast reacting counter force of a demonic infestation, now a full codex may have some
( weird? ) justification why they will act upon anything else as a 'general' force.

Can't see a place for GK as standalone army ( except against a pure demons army ). IMO theyre better off if it is a
standalone SoB codex and a combined =I=/GK/DW/assassins codex.

meh, GK standalone force makes plenty of sense... just need to read the GK novels as inspiration as to why... though you can pretty much just say, "their chaos warshippers" and be done with it.

In the novels (which I like enough to consider fluff for GK) they fought against various imperial forces, just because a traitor inquisitor told them the grey knights where traitor marines... the imperial forces, having never heard of the grey knights before (they are TOO secretive if you ask me) of course believed the inquisitor, and fought against them.

I wouldn't trust the blood angel codex for anything... its a POS... however, stormravens would be a pretty fluffy unit for grey knights. Rapid response, stormravens fit the bill. Dakka predators with psycannon sponsons, and a twin linked heavy incinerator (like the baal predator flamestorm, but ignoring invuln saves....) lots of cool things possible.

I'm sure that GW will try and keep the ordos/Inq, GK and SOB fairly flexible fluff wise. they want to sell more minis so even though it contravenes fluff 'have fun but buy more of the latest minis' wins the day.

Fluff is mutable in their approach to get product to the masses. look at Dreadnoughts once rare, valuable, limited in number, only the best dead warriors etc (expensive and metal). Move forwards 15 or so years to the BA codex, new polymer technologies and established plastic dreads and you can field a whole army of dreads whose sole purpose is to die.

Psi Titans? Go for it. The whole fluff of current titan legions will be rendered redundant when plastic warhounds are released.

I like this line of thinking.

But still, GK didn't have the numbers to be everywhere. Could see possesed or avatars as "igniting" a rection of the ordo malleus.
Remember armageddon, they confronted Angron and his pets with just a hundred termies ( and won ).

@1hadhq

I'm pretty sure there was a rule for 3rd ed or maybe 2nd where for fluffy games a nominate model or character in the opposing persons army had something possessed or tainted by chaos.

A spurious use of Grey Knights and or inquisitors to be sure.

Well i was more along the lines of a differentiated army to seperate them from other sm...since a forumers complain Gk are just another bunch of shiny sm...which i feel is not...

Yeah i read the grey knights series, the first being the best...Stronger daemons seems invulnerable to gunfire....but then wouldnt it be OP if Gk's could go hand to hand combat with a defiler and soul grinder and live to tell the tale?...the next thing you know everyone wants their sm armies to be able to do that....

Psychic dreads better be much better in an army of Psychis...im looking forward to the stormraven and jetbikes...wonder how might the implent this
