Just over the border in sunny* Dover, NH. A great community of guys and gals who get together weekly to play games as well as host organised leagues and events. I don't know how far of a drive it is from where you are but stop by some friday night and say hi, you won't be dissapointed.

Plymouth State University has a pretty good group of 40k players.

Otherwise, I can vouch for Elite Hobbies having a great group. So does Jetpack Comics. Though I understand that there's some cross pollination between the two groups.
