Hey folks,

I finally finished the F.W. Venerable Dread that I got for my birthday over a year ago ! So, yes, he has been stood on my desk in various states of wip for about a year. I'm going to miss him.

The photos aren't the greatest, Ill try and get some new ones.

His arms are magnetized and have 3 sets of magnets so that they can be placed in 3 different positions as you will see below.

And here he is with my other Dreadnought, Brother Animus.

Now I can get on with about a hundred other part finished projects.

[So why does your dread have a girl's name?
Atropos was one of the greek fates - who were all female.]

Pictures are a bit muddy, though. Lighting is perhaps and issue (but it could also be the white background causing the camera to underexpose the subject). A more neutral background would help.

Hiya, yeah technically it is a female name, bit I didn't think it sounded particularly female. I chose it as she was a goddess of fate, and I liked the idea of the dreadnought being driven by fate.

As for the photo's, I tried to play around in photoshop with the brightness and contrast to get them as close to what my eyes see as I could. But, as you say, I think the white background is just blowing them out.

Nice job. I'm working on a venerable dread myself and make steal a couple of your ideas.

Not a great fan of the walking outhouse style of dread and the FW ones leave me less than impressed.

It's an adequate paintjob (from what I can tell) let down by a bad picture. If it wasn't suffering from almost hiroshima levels of overexposure, I could probably get a better idea of the colour, shading, etc.
Most cameras have issues with white backgrounds. There are ways around it, but unless you have access to full manual settings, exposure compensation and know what you are doing, it's hard to fix.

Use a different coloured background (blue grad is fine and is findable on the net with a search).

OK, so the "girl's name" thing was a dig. There's so much bile directed at the subject of "female marines", but give a marine a girl's name and it's fine?

Great Job,
The paint job is great,
The subtle weathering really give it the
hardcore, killing machine, hero veteran look.
And does the model justice.

A quick question,

Where did you get those autocannon arms?

I appears that they are from Forgeworld, I think.

Thats a top notch model dude!
The banner is brilliantly done, not only is the 'nid excellent but the cloth itself is very, very well executed.
Fantastic job all around, love the subtle weathering.

Dis-regard any negative comments about the name. Anyone who's taken the time to find a name with historic meaning gets an A+ in my books.
