With stormboys having jump packs, they move 12''
Plus the extra d6 from having Rokkit Packs?

"Show me a man or a woman alone and I'll show you a saint. Give me two and they'll fall in love. Give me three and they'll invent the charming thing we call 'society'. Give me four and they'll build a pyramid. Give me five and they'll make one an outcast. Give me six and they'll reinvent prejudice. Give me seven and in seven years they'll reinvent warfare. Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home." -Glen Bateman, The Stand (C&U), 3rd paragraph of Chapter 42, by Stephen King

you only roll the rokkit packs D6 to see if one of your boyz has to be removed. so they only go 12 in the movement phase.
would be cool in 6th ed to get a red paint upgrade for these guys tho

Check the last sentence of the Rokkit Pack rules entry...
The roll is added to their movement.

huh, for somebody with that screen name and an Orky avatar, you sure don't know much about them....
Ork Codex, pg 47, last sentence under "Rokkit Pack":
Regardless of the result you may add the number rolled to the amount the unit moves that turn.

got a quick one - it also states to remove a stormboy if a 1 is rolled
i had an ork player try to tell me that it does not effect Zagstrug (or whatever his name is) when he is the only model left as he is not a 'Stormboy'.. i advised that Zagrstrug is just an upgraded stormboy so he should be removed as he is equiped with the Rokkit Pack and get the benifits so therefore suffers the consequences also Automatically Appended Next Post: was i right??

That's getting into ' DoM isn't a Zoanthrope' and 'Nork isn't an Ogryn' territory...
There's an argument for it by pure RAW, but it's really just hair-splitting. He's a Stormboy.

Yeah He's not an IC so what is but a Stormboys Boss ie, a StormBoy.
(He was possibly thinking of the 'Violent Temper' rule Zag has)

RaW, he isn't a Stormboy, and he isn't removed on a roll of a 1.

The rule does say stormboyz unit, and then owner....so Zag is part of the unit so should be affected.
If he complains too much, just hit him with the flip side of it, and disallow zag the extra 1d6 movement then.........

I'm slightly confused, while the rulebook says JI moves 12" it also says they may move as normal infantry. Does this mean that Orky ones move 6+D6"? So they would move up to 6" safely and 6+D6 with some risk?

No. Stormboys, when they move as Jump Infantry, move up to 12"+ D6. If they move as Infantry, they just move 6.

I wonder it that is an editing issue? Maybe they originally wanted it to be Orky variable movement and others said it would be too confusing. End result is that it is another reason why Eldar are even less amazing (Warp Spiders extra move).

Yes, but it is AP - fire so they are really rubbish bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Of course why you are firing AP - into them when Eldar have, statistically, the best Anti Tank Unit in the game AND the best Transport to get them there, I don't know.

I don't recall labeling them as "anti-tank" at all. Just can dish out loads of high S firepower. This edition is geared towards high S more than AP values.

Yeah, I know. I was just in the whiny Eldar Mindset there for a bit too long. But you are correct. I mean, look at Multilazors!

RAW, he isn't a Stormboy (ie: the model whose profile is entitled: Stormboy) but he is a Stormboy (ie: a member of a unit called 'Stormboyz')

in my mind Zag is an upgraded Nob who is an upgraded Stormboy
essentially they are all stormboyz - my opponent is good he removed Zag.. the battle for him was not going well and it was out of desperation that he tried to pull it (but it did raise a ? in my head.. for a moment anyway)
Luckily the guys i play with and happy to play with common sense and more often then not, interperate rules to the least advantage
