So I was looking on Lexi at Emperor of Mankind, and I found this quote:

"In the last year of M41, Techpriests discovered failures in the mechanisms of the Golden Throne that are far beyond their ability to repair."

I'm pretty sure that when the Golden Throne fails, the Emperor, also known as the "God-Emporer", "The Immortal Emporer", the "Master of Mankind" and "The Fat Jerk on the Golden Toilet", will be reborn. If so, which theory do you think will be correct, the Star Child or the Sensei Emporer?

WELL! being the inquisition, astartes and guard player i am, i have to burn you thrice for questioning the god emperor. Technically the imperium will be instantly riddled with daemons if the emperor dies, there will be no room for a new emperor to be reborn, grow up, overcome the horrors of the warp, and come to power again, no i think the golden throne will just keep working, or failing that the emperor will rise back into mortal life again or something. not sure hard question really.

If it were to happen it would likely lead to civil war. The lords of Terra wouldn't give up their power easily. Plus the astronomican would likely go out. Leaving subsectors to all fend for themselves. A bigger and badder dark age of man would ensue and the emperor would again have to fix things. But this time with the help of aloof chapters of marines instead of the legions of old. Plus if the emperor got mortally wounded again ( plenty of bad guys that could do that ) and got killed outright that'd pretty much be the end of the imperium. Unless they can figure out how to make faster than light spaceship travel possible long distance travel would take centuries. As it would be too dangerous to use the warp without the astronomican to guide a ship. On the plus hand with no astronomican to act as a focus for the tyranids that would send them into disarray ( The Tyranids are being drawn into our space because of the astronomican like a moth to flame ). That could feasibly make them a lot less of a threat.

well, weather it is the Sensei or the Star child the Warp won't do a thing.

if it is Sensei he get reborn in physical form and the Deamons won't dare enter the Physical plane again. he reconquors the Galaxy and purges it of all Xeno and Chaos followers and an eternity of Peace follows.

if its Star Child then he enters the Warp, Deamons attempt to stop him, Deamons get PWND by his indestructable soul, chaos gods are either destroyed, stripped of their power, or sealed off in a section of the warp. Emperor becomes a god in truth and Mankind, under his direction from the Warp, conquor the Galaxy and live in peace for the rest of eternity.

The frothing mass of rebellion and sudden re-enforcement of attacks against chaos will empower Malal, who's interests would actually be aligned with that of the Imperium, for the most part. Daemons get attacked. But that factor also partially blunts the attack, leaving all parties still on the board, fluff to advance but everything still happily beat the living daylights out of each other.

GW will never make this happen, of course.
