you can control the ammt. of paint with the trigger, and the ammt. of propellent with the dial above the can.

Not quite. Double-action implies control of both air and paint via a single trigger mechanism (usually a push for air, and a throw fore-and-aft to move the pin in and out of the nozzle which controls paint volume). The video looked to me as if the trigger on the "flamer" was a discrete on/off, not an "analog" throw, and allows air to flow rather than admits paint. Does the propellent "adaptor" deal have some kind of blow-off to reduce the air volume through the gun? Seems to me that the nozzle is of a fixed diameter, that they expect you to thin the paint a fixed amount, and therefore that they would be banking on a fixed, known pressure for the propellent to acheive best results. Basically, don't expect any more control from this than you would get from a can of spray paint.

That's my pedantic post for the day - apologies!

@ Typeline I don't know how to do that link thingy but it's www.harborfrieght.com & click on the air tools section. There's a physical store about a half hour drive from my house. I bought the duoble action-internal-mix airbrush for like $20.00. I've been using it for about 6yrs & no problems, in fact alot of the parts interchange w/my single action-internal-mix airbrush made by Bagder

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I don't think using the cans of propellant would be so bad, I mean how often are you going to use the thing.

I've been using an airbrush for the past few months. It has worked very well laying down a base coat on my Eldar tanks, Jetbikes, Ork arms/heads and ork bodies. It also works well with terrain, especially the cityfight terrain.

It's becoming a mandatory step for me with armies these days, so I tend to get a lot of use out of it.

I liked the video. When I first got my airbrush, I learned by trial and error. I suppose if I looked hard enough, I'd have found a tutorial online, but didn't think of it. GW making this and accessable online is a good idea. It would be nice to see more as time goes on demonstrating more advanced techniques and such.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Hmmm Hand Flamer.

Now if I strap two to my forearms...are they twin-linked or 'counts as' a Flamer?

They count as too much money spent strapping stuff to your forearms.

You would be the god of the speed painting contest at games day if you did that

Personally I find the video quite clarifying, you can see theres little controll on the spray gun... its just a big splatter of paint ( wich is espected from the never trusty canned propellers)
Whats the price for this? and the canned air spray? because in my opinion you gain very little from this, you already have normal spray cans with colors and the results of the ink flow looks just the same.

Not as accessible to me. Besides, if I have any problems I know where I'll complain.

The reason I like it is because it's a lot like "X for dummies". I don't know how to do it, I've never done it before, there's no one who can advise me on it IRL, and most of the models you or a, b or c will point out will be unavailable in a 50 km radius. Even there, hobby shops are scarce, don't have set prices and don't have specialized staff: So how would I know if the model I'm buying isn't old, isn't good, isn't overpriced anyway?

Besides, I like the flamer style

Do you live near lisbon mate? theres some shops in there... also theres online shops for actual airbrushes and compressors etc.

Nope, Póvoa de Varzim, Navarro. Closer to Porto. I take it you're from down south, but at least we're in the same country - maybe one day I'll get to see your 'nids

I've never used an airbrush and a product as simple as this would be a nice intro I think. The paint jar that has the levels for mixing water and foundation paint (I think I read you can use the new washes too?) is also very handy. This will be pretty handy for painting camo on tanks as well as painting large blocks of scenery.

I just bought the GW airbrush today. I feel in love with airbrushes after using a friend's, but couldn't rationalize buying a compressor due to $$$. Then I got a gift certificate that covered the cost of a GW flamer.

Anyway, has anyone been using the GW one lately?

Anyone learn any helpful tricks/ advice?

Can you use only Foundation paints from GW?

EDIT: SORRY IGNORE THIS; just found the other airbrush thread.
