The deal is one of the best GW ever made, although I just need the terminators, so I will try to buy some off the box.

Getting 100

(Of course I'm considering re-selling about 97 of them to friends who wander into my workplace.)

I think the set is such a deal they're going to see more established players pick it up (as well as multiples) than for newer players that I think it was designed for.

Not that that's a bad thing since they're still getting the cash for it but I have a feeling for a little while a lot of stores aren't going to have it in stock after this initial run. My local GW was getting 200 in and had about 150 preorders before this past weekend. Once people start opening them I think they'll sell out the rest and people just starting may be told "we're getting them back in soon" which can be discouraging.

However 2 boxes after trading off SM for Orks straight up gives you

4 Warbosses
20 Nobs with Big Choppas
12 Deffkoptas for (Aporkalypse battles)
80 Slugga boyz

And since a lot of Ork players are trying to aquire 10 Warbosses to use as Nobz with PK I'll be trading three off and ten Nobz for more Slugga Boyz

That's a lot of stuff for $120 Especially from GW. So it's hard to feel too bad for the newbies and after us lot have our fill the kits will still be around.

I will be buying 2 boxes and splitting them trading the orks for Space Marines.

I'm getting it for the mini-book on the off chance I get back into it, and probably trading the marines for more orks to someone else, 'cause orks will make fine opponents for VSF or Pulp Future/generic sci-fi gaming.

I'm splitting 1 and buying 3 for myself. Why? Who knows!

I've ordered one box set and am seriously looking forward to it's arrival... I considered ordering two or three and swapping the bits I don't like with someone for some extra orks or marines... but to be honest i play both forces and don't want loads of rulebooks so a bit pointless. I'll have a look at how nice the models are and how much scope there is for modifying the minis as I'm guessing they'll be in less parts than the standard troops box sets. I've got jars and jars of spare shoota arms so no worries there.

If I really like them I'll try and buy/swap some unwanted bits from small people who need their pocket money topping up at my FLGS, or buy more sets and shove the rule books on eBay, although something tells there will be hundreds of the damn things going up for sale soon! :S

If I could buy just the sprues from somewhere, not individual parts clipped from the sprue and not the whole box set, I'd be filling my boots!

The old Boyz sprues had enough bits to make 20 slugga boyz or 20 shoota boyz. That means if you already have 20 slugga boys then you still should have the arms to make 20 shoota boys kicking around somewhere. If not chat to your friendly local Ork players... I've got so many jars of arms, heads, shootas etc etc I'll never use them all, you must be able to scrounge some arms? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's early Ork forces included shed-loads more sluggas than shootas just because the slugga boys were loads easier to make!!! Now with the shoota coming already on the arm, it's nowhere near as hard.

I got mine today (only bought one ) and I have to say, this seems to be a pretty ingeniously designed set. The way the dreadnought is designed (six pieces - front/back torso-legs, feet, arms) seems like it will be very easy to convert so you can swap whatever dread arms you want on it. The terminators also come with arms detached, so if you have the arms already, they'd be simple to convert into assault termies, or equip in whatever special manner you want. Given the price of getting a dread and terminators otherwise, buying one for them alone seems sensible, and that's not even getting into the ork side of things.

D'oh - now don't I feel INCREDIBLY stupid.

Looks like i'll be doing some conversions - I have so many slugga/choppa/and shoota arms. As well as extra heads, and arms to boot. Yeah, I can easily convert these Black Reach boys to Shoota boyz, though I was kind of think about converting them in to Stormboyz.

Ah well, I'll figure out what I want to do when I get the Box Set.

I'll assemble the Nobz, Warboss, and Deffkoptas asap. After that I just need to figure out exactly what to do with the Black Reach boyz. Gee don't I feel like the dumbest Ork player alive.

I've preordered 3 sets and I'm keeping all the models. And if I ever need another Dread, Termies, Boyz, etc... I'll just buy another Black Reach box instead.

I just want the rulebook.

I actually would really like to buy one, but with my pending European relocation, I'm trying to paint up stuff I already have instead of buying a bunch of new stuff. Of course, depending on how the local scene is when I get back, I might end up getting one next year.

Depends. The only ork I want is the boss. I don't need any other the other stuff. I might start a SM army in which case I'll probably buy two boxes and just ebay/trade/sell the orks, most of the templates and one of the rulebooks.

Picking mine up on Saturday. Not sure how I'm going to get things painted, but it's coming on Saturday.

I plan to pick it up next month. I got the WD with the free terminator and nob - and experimented with a new paint job on the termi. I might do a small battle force with a different theme than my existing Marine army, plus Orks are always fun to play! I might make a small force of them as well. That's how my Nid army started!

They are 4-part are so with tightly moulded "pegs" which fit into moulded "sockets" on the other parts. That way they hold together without the need for gluing (although a dab of glue would probably be recommended for long term survivability.)

Its designed that everything you need to play is in the box. All you need to do for a game at the most basic level is snap the models off the sprue, clip them together, and slap them on the table to play. Dice, measuring sticks, templates, a starter scenario using the models in the box and the complete rules are all included. Not needing plastic glue is one less obstacle in the way of the n00b just getting on and playing right away.

Plus, you can move their arms and say "pew, pew" while playing, vastly annoying your opponent.

I'm going to buy a set and give the Orky half (fully painted and built) to my brother for his birthday. After reading the rumours about the new SM codex, I'll be keeping the SM half. Now back to repaint the DH rhinos blue...
