Orks, Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons are top three at this point, going by the #'s at GW's tournaments. Of those, Orks are top.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Yeah, Orks are top.

BA lost an edge, their new codex is not on par with the new SM 'dex. Thank you, Jervis.

Orks are obviously the top tier army. With even a decent list you'll win more than you should. Also nob bikers. Another brilliant overpowered dex move by Phil Kelly, writer of the BEST CODEX EVER, in every edition.

Chaos is also top tier with the stupid entries of lashing prince, oblits, plagues, and zerks.

BT are hard to play and require a certain list but they can competitively remain at tier two.

And dark angels suck haha, why would we mention them when discussing good armies?

Chaos Daemons should be tier 2 and possibly working it's way to tier 1 as more people fine tune their armies. They have a good showing most anywhere they are played and aren't one of the army types that gets weaker at higher point costs (ala Ork Nob bikers). At 2500 they are a wrecking ball.

Demons need to be at least T2, maybe on the end of T1. Even Nob Bikes get a little frightened when Fateweaver plops onto the table with 18-24 Bloodcrushers surrounding him and followed up by a bunch of plaguebearers and Soulgrinders with tongue.

Indeed, Daemons are at least T2, possibly T1.
A list with lots of Bloodcrushers is scary as hell and definitely hard to take down. An army without mobility will suffer.
