Hi guys
Thanks once again for all your comments. I'm really enjoying being creative but not too OTT on these vehicles. Here are a couple of answers to your thoughts questions.
@ Disjointed Entity - I've been thinking about working on a guide. I might just do that once I've finished the Blood Pact project.
@ Death by Monkeys - the symbols are freehand and the head, as Platuanth4th said, is from the Baneblade sprue. A while back a bunch of friends around the country sent me their standing BB commander bodies and the heads they weren't using.
@ Cadaver - I'm thinking about a battlewagon conversion, but I'm not sure what weapon I'd put in the truck bed. Some sort of artillery piece or AA gun, I think.
@ sA - the orky gun cupola stands pretty tall and I think that's part of the visual issue you're picking up on. I'm waiting to hear what the Chimeras will actually be able to be armed with, but I'm keen to do some up with snub-nose autocannon mounts.
@jah - thanks mate. It can be very easy to go overboard. Also it takes less time with a less is more approach ; )
@ Platuanth4th - I'm really looking forward to seeing that BW conversion finished. I love the idea of turning it into a mobile command center.
@ Dante - My book hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully tomorrow.
Cheers
Dave

Hi guys
Yep, things have been a bit light on the Blood Pact lately. A combination of baby prep (there's a lot of stuff you need apparently), tax time, friends from out of town, other hobby projects (posted on my blog), and a steady increase in new tasks for my new job have meant reduced time on the Blood Pact.
As Chrispy says though, I've been painting on my Stalk Tank and hope to get more done over the weekend for an early next week update. I'm thinking about running a contest to create a couple of datasheets for the Stalk Tanks. Should be fun.
Cheers

Hi guys
I've just put up another post on my blog, this one about rivets on models and four methods to make them. The link is in my signature.
@ BrotherStynier - yep, had five weeks of three hour classes. Oh the things you get to see and talk about : 0
@ Dante - it's a girl, you know the old "Gamer Curse" tale ; )
@ T3h_Guppy - the symbols were hand painted. I started with a circe traced around a base, then painted in lines for the arrows, then spent quite a bit of time fleshing them out and highlighting them.
@ sA - Less than two weeks til due date.
@ BoxANT - thanks mate, Hopefully I'll have the Stalk Tank finished soon.
Cheers

Hi guys
Thanks for all the kind comments. My wife and I are really looking forward to the new parenting experience.
I've just posted pics of my Stalk Tank on my blog and I'll post a few here too.
I think my lights might've been too close to the light tent so I'll take some more pictures once we're home from the hospital and settled.
I hope you enjoy them.

Hi guys
Thanks for all the positive comments, a lot of hours went into bringing that model to life. And thanks for all the well wishes for my daughter, I'm sure many more hours will be spent joyfully with her.
As for the rules or what it could count as there are really a number of options. As some have suggested it could be an armored/heavy sentinel, but it really is too big for that (in my view). It could also be a Lena Russ exterminator without sponsons, it certainly is that big, but I'm not sure it should have an AV of 14 - it seems too spindly to me. I'd also like it to have some reasonable close combat impact but it doesn't have a battle cannon like the Defiler. At the moment it seems more like an oversized Chaos Dreadnought, but even that doesn't do it justice. I'm thinking of running a competition to create a Datasheet for Apoc and then a second for a group of three (including a psyker upgrade). More news on that as it comes to hand ; )
As for the army, it'll definitely use the new IG codex, but until I get my own copy in my hands I'm reluctant to speculate too much. I do know that even with the huge amounts of additional units (awesome!) there'll be a few things I need to relegate to Apocalypse situations, which is just fine for me.
I'll try to get a group shot of the project thus far sometime over the weekend once we're home and slightly settled. And thanks once again for your well wishes.
Cheers

It has been a while, but I finally have a bit more progress on the Blood Pact in the form of the first SteG4 armored car.
It certainly is an expensive beast, but I'll make sure that all the other bitz from the Chimera and Leman Russ will be used when building the other vehicles ( AT-70 or AT-83 and Usurper) yet to come. I think I'll be using these as Centaurs. Wheels and paint to come soon. There's another pic angle on my blog too (as well as an Ork Nob I'm working on). Link in my sig!

Hi guys
First off, let me apologize for "being away" for the last month. Truth is I've been lurking and posting the odd comment here and there but didn't have too much new finished for the Blood Pact. Anyway, here are the latest addition to the army:
A squad of Infardi (from Honour Guard) ready to beat the snot out of any Imperials they can get their hands on. These guys will be fielded as Penal Legion troopers. Below are my three favorite troopers:
On my blog I also have a poll to let you, faithful reader, decide on my next project for the Blood Pact (selecting from a short-list of tutorial requests). So head on over and have fun voting! Blog link can be found in my sig.

Thanks guys, the Demons went really well for me. Now my Blood Pact army can boast three GD-winning units!
@Dante - actually the Blood Pact squad was "upgraded" to Silver once it was discovered that they guy who bought the second place squad somehow managed to enter it on behalf of the painter. Done in all innocence, but still against the rules, so things have shaken out pretty well.
Don't forget to check out my blog and cast your vote in the poll! Link in sig.

Hi Flinty, thanks.
I think you've got a mix of memory and dream going on there. The descriptions do talk about a hard-wired servitor floating in a fluid-filled, underslung bubble and yes, mine does not include that guy ; ) Instead I chose to armor up his bubble so that I could concentrate on the rest of the "mechanics" of the piece. Now that I know how to build them I can start to incorporate the fiendish "bubbles". The guns, I think, are a different story.
For the rest of the look I took a lead from the Sabbat World Crusades artbook from Black Library. There's a really cool concept sketch to the rear of that book and I tried to remain faithful to that image.

Flinty wrote:"Bright yellow, a stalk tank ripped into the outer clearing of the concealed base. Its underslung turrets recoiled as they spat out bursts of heavy las."
Aaahhh se that's where the confusion comes into play, your quote says "a stalk tank" whereas mine is "The Stalk Tank!" ; )
Thanks for tracking that quote down though, I'm gonna re-read that section and get a few more ideas for the next one.
@Malika2 - thanks mate, I appreciate that!

Hi studdering dave
The best books for the Pact are Guns of Tanith, Straight Silver, and Sabbat Martyr. First and Only would be good for Nurglesque guys too.
I like the simplicity of the picture frame sprayed black. Puts the focus on the models rather than trying to make them "all fancy" or compensate for a flaw in the painting. Having said that I do still like well done dioramic bases for squad displays

Hi guys
Thanks for the congrats, I'm still a bit giddy about the GD wins.
@GM - I'm thinking of a diorama Departmento Munitorium truck (or half track) being loaded with wounded Guardsmen. WW2 inspired with a definite dose of the 41st millennium.
@ Brother Stynier - being a dad is great so far, we've settled into a nice rhythm and getting to play with her for a few hours after work is very satisfying!
Only two days let to vote in the poll on my blog!

Well the tutorial voting has really picked up! It is still a close run thing and I'm still hoping the truck wins out so that I can use the tutorial to get started on my Chicago GD diorama. Whichever one comes out on top, I'll still do a tutorial for all three.
Hopefully on Monday I'll also have update on my Infardi Psyker Battle Squad.

@Mister Feral - In Sabbat Martyr Pater Sin appears carrying around two child/runt psykers that he uses to imprint suggestions in the minds of the weak. They cling to him like children or babies would, afraid of the sounds of battle and unaware of much besides the pain their psychic mutation brings them.
I'm hoping to get some paint on the little guys (read: take a break from sculpting) tonight.

Thanks guys! Obviously I'm having a lot of fun with these.
@c0un7_z3r0 - yep, Night Goblin bodies with Crypt Ghoul faces and puttied heads and robes.
I'm off to the club tonight and I'll do some painting on these freaks. With all those green robes I'm thinking I'll need a border to break it up somehow, but I'm not sire which section should get it (shawl, or tunic, or under-robes) and what it should be like (variant of Chaos symbol, or simple "tiny script", or even a simple line.
What do you think?

I've painted the Psykers,
I'm still unsure about the banding around the robes I mentioned in a previous post. I guess I'll summon up the courage soon enough. Pater Sin is still being worked on, perhaps next week I'll have another shot of him.
@Brother Stynier - I think I'll be hanging on to it. I've wanted a Blood Pact army for such a long time (since Guns of Tanith really) so I can't imagine selling them off. Unless of course I get the right offer ; )

Hi guys
No real update today, except to announce the Apocalypse Datasheet Competition I'm running on my blog. It's all about creating a Datasheet for the Stalk Tank. Head on over and take a read.
@ Sirath - I was originally thinking about starting with Dark Angels green and highlighting up with Snot Green and Sunburst Yellow to get something more "vibrant" as you correctly quote, but I decided on Orkhide shade and Gretchin Green as a bit of a change, kind of pushing my own personal boundaries. Not too successful on a vibrancy front but I still like the little buggers. ; )

Hi Dante
Chicago GDs are just under five weeks away. I'll try to get some shots on the weekend. As a tease, here's the list of projects I have on the boil:
40K Single - Ad Mech Skittarii (also a commission piece)
40K Squad - Pater Sin and his Psyker Brood
40K Vehicle - Blood Pact SteG4 Armoured Car
Warhammer Single - Mounted Chaos Sorcerer
Warhammer Large - Chaos Lord on Daemonic Steed
Large Scale Model - Churabael, Daemonhost
Diorama - Wounded Cadian troopers being evacuated in a half-track
Open - My Genswick Gorgon converted from a Baneblade.
So a bit of work there (only the Gorgon is complete).
Cheers

Wow, I didn't realize quite how long it had been since I posted on this blog!
Well, I've been crazy busy with work, life, and painting entries for my trip to Chicago Games day in a couple of weeks.
To quickly answer your question infilTRAITOR, you can see the squad on GW's site in their Baltimore Golden Demon coverage.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?community=true&catId=&categoryId=600002a&pIndex=1&aId=100005a&start=2
Anyway, here's a couple of shots of my latest model for my traitors, not technically Blood Pact, but too cool to pass up.
I present my Blight Drone!
I hope to get back onto my Blood Pact in the next week or so. As usual, more pics and bots on my blog, link in my sig.

Hi guys
Thanks for all the kind words. Chicago Games Day was great, lots of fun talking about some very nice toy soldiers.
@Dante - I walked away with two Silver Demons, one for my Cherubael in Large Model, and one for "The Withdrawal of the 144th" in the Diorama category. I've put up a few pics on my blog, I hope you like them.
Now that the Demons are over I can get back to my Blood Pact project, as well as a few others. I'm working on a new Penal Legion Squad, a couple of Usurpers (the Blood Pact version of the Medusa), and some more Pacters, all for a tournament in October. Pictures to follow soon.

Ok guys
Back from vacation, and my parents have headed back home. Time to get more Blood Pact completed!
Here are the Infardi, two squads supporting Pater Sin and his creepy psykers.
My new Standard Bearer. I had a lot of fun posing this guy and using the Dark Elf Corsair banner and the Renegade Enforcer whip. It's also my favorite Empire Flagellant head.
And here's the model I'm using for my Fleet Officer. One of the Forgeworld Renegade priests. If you have any other thoughts about what I should use, feel free to speak up.
I have a pic of my heavy flamer conversion and the list I plan on taking to the Battlefoam Wild West Shootout in October on my blog, link in my signature.

Hi guys
Thanks for the kind words. Those Blight Drone models are indeed awesome.
@ studderingdave - the slime/poop out the back of the Drone is greenstuff, built up over paperclip armatures. The stream of poop is greenstuff over a brass rod that goes up into the Drone and bends underneath the base. Then the whole thing was painted with a mix of browns and greens and given a layer of 'Ardcoat to finish it off.
Anyway, here are some new pictures of my finished Command Squads, I hope you like them.
Company Command
Platoon Command
Company Standard Bearer
Officer of the Fleet
