Yes, but what are you going to buy with 10 points
I think you guys are missing the point. The crusader has an assault cannon, and mine will have a muti-melta, so power armour isnt a problem. The redeemer has the same options. But becuase my army is more shooty then assault, I am going with a crusader. Thanks for the help though, you opions have really helped alot.

you are going to buy the multi melta with those 10 points making the redeemer with a MM the same as a crusader without. And umm the redeemer has an assault cannon as well. The only difference between the 2 is the flamers vs the hurricane bolters.
Honestly if your sitting back and shooting with a land raider you will be better off with predators. A crusader doesnt really have much shooty potential. 6 bolter shots and 1 assault cannon at 24" isnt all that. 3 preds for the same price puts out way more firepower.

You have 10 points with the redeemer, find 5 more and give it the must have extra armor for 5 more than a stock crusader.

Again, the Redeemer is only good in COD, never in any other situation, as it simply doesn't have enough high-powered range weapons!

The extra transport capacity of the LRC is what makes it the superior choice.
All LR varients are transports first and gunboats second, so don't skimp on your transport capabilities.

If I were you then just magnetise the sponsons.
Gives you flexibility. IMO the redeemer is the better choice as it is godly up close and if your running it as a transport you should be moving 12' and would only be able to fire one gun anyway. The Crusader gives you more flexibility though so moot point

I agree with yani, putting the magnets on the sponsons would give you much more flexibilty, and if you took a second LR, you could have them working in tandem.

sorry but this is just wrong. Whats your reasoning? The crusader has pretty much the same long range weapons and the extra ones it has arent high powered in the least. land raiders are transports. Using them as gun platforms is just stupid as you can get multiple predators that do it better for the same price. That being said if your transporting an assault unit to take advantage of the assault vehicle rules, as you probably should, then the redeemer will be right up close and personal which is a perfect place to put the flamestorms to good use.

Redeemer, people will fear it.
Hurricane Bolters are underwhelming imo.
You are most likely going to be moving 12" every turn to get your cargo within melee range, so once you drop your troops off, the Redeemer is really going to be a big threat for your opponent, being able to drive into you opponent unleashing fire death.

Good point. On reflection and looking at the rules again I must agree that the Redeemer is good, but again only if it gets close. The problem I can see with that is that once your opponent sees the Redeemer on the field, he's going to shoot at it with everything he's got. However, I suppose this would let other units get close.

The crusader isn't really a beast at range either though. it gets 6/12 rerollable bolter shots at 24/12 inches respectively if you can get LOS with both sponsons (or machine spirit one on something else.) Yes they are defensive weapons but if I am trying to get my cargo into assault then its moving 12" and thats a moot point. Smoke also keeps the sponsons silent for a turn. Also keep in mind that just like the Crusader the Redeemer has the frag assault launchers so that termies can jump into cover and strike at initiative ( LC or reg. termi sergeants) so going towards cover with your payload is a definate possibility and having those cover ignoring templates might be useful in that case.
Once the cargo gets off at the bus stop you will probably be close to other targets and the template range becomes more attractive.
Lastly the Crusader is just as big a target as the Redeemer. It may lack the AP flamers but it also has the potential to have 4 more models (or 2 more terminators) riding inside of it. Most armies are going to try to keep that squad from joining the party if possible.
Lastly the big factor in which to take is in what you are transporting. if its only 6 termies then the redeermer is an excellent choice, if you want 8 then it will be a crusader. I still suggest the magnets as 1 box nets you the stuff for both.

@OP: Didn't mean to upset you with the Chaos raider mention I was playing around.
On-topic: Redeemer. You have plenty of bolters from your marines already why do you want more bolters on a tank platform when you could be packing other things?

Why the Multi-Melta of course, or maybe that Combi-Flamer my Sgt has been eyeing up in the window.

This is what I have done. You do need to make areplacement rod for the guns to attach to and are missing the Sponson covers but it is not much.

I'm with Volkan, putting magnets on the side would make the tank much more flexible, and you'd also be able to edit your army's capability effectively and quickly
