Allow him to proxy the wolves as Khorn first and see how it goes maybe?

Maybe, fluff wise i think if a wolf went chaos he would want Khorne to give him the strength, seeing how their main motivation is glory

If he plays very aggresively, it is possible that he has the wrong army to match his style. The Eldar player using him as a meat shield sounds like the Eldar player was staying true to his armies nature.........maby your friend needs to take that cue and look for a more agressive army.......

If he really wants to stay with SM, I would suggest that he starts out playing VERY small 1 v 1 games till he figures out his army....
If he plays a list at 500pts, he can focus on just 2-3 units at the most. SMs are also more dangerous at low points as other armies rely on Elites and Heavies to do their work (Eldar and Tau for example) and they just wont have the points once they meet FOC needs. Plus the advantage he gets for having stronger troops than most armies, will balance out his lack of experiance and allow him to learn his opponate's army as well.....

My primary 40K competitor/friend since grade school beats the crap outta me everytime we play. I wanted to quit the hobby a few times. Since then I have been playing at the local shop and having tons of fun in competitive games. I fair a million times better as opposed having yet to beat my long time friend.

Just last night a played a quick 500 pt pick up game for the first time ever and learned a lot about my own army and strategy since i have been playing 1750 and 2000 from the get go for the last 2 years.

Try playing "Wolf Guy" in escalation games starting at 500 pts and building to your normal pt value. He may learn a lot about his army and his personal play style.

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.

Then it's probably best to leave him be. Last thing we need is another HaloBox twich gamer trying to play 40K. I think you dodged a bullet buddy!

Watch it there old boy
Im also a 360 player.

But on topic: I think your friend just needs to try some new tactics, wolves are a great army (should be better with an update)
Maybe even let him play with your army for a game? could just be that he wasnt ment to play space pups or just needs a break from using them.

If he's an all out attack player then maybe something like daemons or chaos would work out well for him.

Failing this, Get him to make an account on dakka, im sure people will help him with anything he needs.

Tell him to change the turret on it and make it a predator or a Razorback, either one might ultimately serve him better, he's already got a bunch of tac-squads so he isn't likely hurting for Anti Infantry, the heavy weapon squads he's got will die really fast if they aren't placed well and there goes his anti-tank. A razorback with a Lascannon or a Predator will give him some more resiliant anti-armor.

Edit: It might help if we knew which kind of mission he hates the most

The way I heard it is you want to be very aggressive in objective missions, because if your units die, who cares, that isn't the mission. There's an awful lot of tactica on objective missions, but basically, he doesn't need to hold all of them, he only needs to hold half of them(rounded down), and contest everything else, and you can contest even if it's not a troop.

Oh, and in your next match. Roll BAD.

I was in the same boat when I first got into the hobby. My friend crushed me probably around 30-40 times. I almost quit too. But once I started playing other people with more diverse armies and developed new tactics I became more successful. It's just a matter of determination and willingness to change it up a little. Eventually it was my friend who lost interest and sold me his army...

I got killed ALL the time with my IG army in team-ups. (Probably cos my horde was such an obvious meat shield) but for the most part I enjoyed it.

I agree with Jimmy82, if he gets a more diverse field of opponents he'll have a lot more fun with different armies, and will be more likely to win. But if he's going to be TFG and throw a tantrum evry time he loses, mabye this hobby is not for him?

But dont do that too often ( he needs to learn losing is part of the game )
if he doesnt learn that eventually , he'll lose out in life for things that matters.

Don't throw the game. That will leave a secret in your relationship that if discovered would totally banish him from the hobby. Just start bringing really soft lists against him but play smart. All you are doing by throwing a game is teaching him bad tactics. When he finally wins he will be excited. But if he ever finds out that his win was worthless, that he would be crushed i'd think.

Now all he needs is to buy is two boxes of berserkers plus Kharn and his journey to the dark side will be complete.

I agree with all the people saying let the psycho boy play with the other psycho boys (the berserkers.) I had the same problem with the grey knights (WHO I SWEAR I'LL COME BACK TO SOMEDAY!!!) Khornate Daemons saved my ass as another psycho bastard teenager who wanted to play this game. Also, I have a 12 year old friend who wants to play tau but has no idea how to use them. Something I do is I crush him entirely in small point games, and then explain exactly how i destroyed him, explain how he can fix this problem, play again, rinse, recycle, repeat. (Today I beat him in two turns, killed his ethereal and forced his fire warriors off of the table edge turn one, stopped the game, explained to him why exactly that happened, I finished massacring his people in CC, and then we played again, this time he started farther away from the board edge, moved more, and he lasted until turn 4. Not bad.)
