I think my thinking is based upon a Tau standpoint since that is my current Army. Destroy the largest threat on the table and bonus points are given for things that add to assault. For Tau a Dread would be less than a LR so I would target the LR with everything until it was destroyed. Of course against Tau I would most likely deepstrike as much as I could in order to get close and assault ASAP. Plus psycannons and psybolts are all AP4 which rip though normal (4+) armor and ignore invulnerable saves.
