Afrikan Blonde wrote:Goth culture in the US and Europe are two different animals entirely. They might look alike in terms of appearance and listen mostly to the same music but to be honest Goth culture in the US has a high concentration of 'white trash' that are looking for a different element as opposed to rednecks and jocks. In Europe Goths tend to come from the middle class and as such have better opportunity for education.
And obviously European goths have some very Elitist notions concerning class systems.

Yes they do indeed.
Lorry by the way is a British term for a work truck.

Theatre of Ice were a first wave deathrock band, 1978. Close enough to Goth rock. If you really want a serious discussion on this head on over to http://www.gothic.net and post in the music section.

Pretentious? Moi? . Sorry big Fawlty Towers fan and couldn't resist!
I come from a good old working class background, I'm not denying there were a lot of middle class ones rebeling against their parents (who paid for all their stuff!) And society but the ones I hung around with werefrom backgrounds like mine (council estates, factory working families etc).

That is very cool. Most of my Goth friends were from broken homes. We connected through the music.

Pretentious? Moi?
WINNER! lol
That is a common stereotype.
So is the one about Goths taking themselves too seriously. I wonder why....
Perhaps you should take a leaf out of Mick A's book and try not to be so po-faced. Just a thought.
