I would say I've spent too much money on FW stuff over the last couple of years. Over half of my orders were missing parts or had such terrible casts they required replacement parts. Not a good record....but hey their design/creative team make it hard to say no.

However(!), each and every time I've phoned FW, Simon and gang have always been very cordial and replaced my parts. In addition, over the last year, their QA is improving....most notably since management changed (I think). The issues they seem to have is lack of personnel to handle volume....as warped casts, miscasts and missing part makes one think they are in quite a hurry. Not to mention, I don't believe I've ever heard a new name in the last 2 years of phoning them .

Baltimore bunker no longer stocks FW stuff
im pissed it was a 20min drive to happiness

In general FW is outrageous with there price vs quality control ive received alota pieces that the molds where misaligned on stuff i ordered.
It can get old waiting 4 months to get something then going to pick it up, only to return empty handed because something was broken missing or just plain messed up.

The main thing is if this where a once in a while thing it would be no biggie but id say at least 50% of the time something is majorly messed up with every order.

i don't think that the Battle Bunker in L.A. carries Forgeworld anymore either...
that's where I used to get my stuff...

it's not that big a deal, as i would much rather give my money to companies like the Mcvey's and Maow who produce flawless resin minis...
when I see how beautifully cast minis like the Rackham Legends are, I can't really justify the crappy casting of Forgeworld...

i'll still buy the odd one, but I wouldn't sing there praises...

cheers

Sorry, I didn't know Baltimpre didn't carry anymore. Thanks for the heads up, that's where I always went. Looks like I'm going to visit Graceland.

I've had generally good experiences with FW. I've ordered things as small as the little resin Rippers, all the way up to the big ol' Brass Scorpion. Out of the (approximate...) 7 orders I've done with FW, only the axe off the FW Khorne Daemon Prince was warped beyond repair, and they were quick to send a replacement out that arrived later that week.

I have no personal complaints about them as far as model quality goes...but I have heard some grisly horror stories.

My last order from FW was a rhino front plate and doors. It was remarkable in that it was my first order from FW (in perhaps a dozen orders total) that was not warped and did not require the hot water treatment to straighten - nice and flat, right from the pouch.

To even things out, the front plate had a nice large chip in the corner, with the broken piece not included. Not difficult to fix, just enough to keep FW's reputation intact.
