I really like the look of those mini burst cannons. I might do this just to make them look like that, without even making some railguns.

I'm thinking some kind of bracing around the middle to disguise the join and because the gun just looks like it may need another brace partway through. A little bit of plasticard cut in square/rectangular sections around the middle with maybe some green stuff to fill the gaps.

Nice work. As already stated it may be easier/better to use rods or similar but its good to see how effective the fusion blaster parts are. Plus the short barrelled burst cannon is rather awesome in its own right!
