Sorry but I doubt it is. At best it comes from latin. In italian it's actually Terra. (which btw, beside being the name of our planet, means also "ground" or "dirt". Yes, we called our planet dirt... Funny race, aren't we?)

Yeah, the fact that Terra is also in French is hardly surprising. the language IS based on Latin. and so is Spanish and Italian.

Some of us would, some wouldn't. The ones that wouldn't would be slaughtered as they resisted probably. Automatically Appended Next Post: As a side note, religions wouldn't be considered heresy. Rather, the Ecclesiarchy would twist our religions to venerate the Emperor, so that we could switch over to Emperor worship as soon as possible.

Probably you're right... On the Imperium side at least. We're not really known for being that open about religion, you know? What with the crusades, jihad, sects, all round religious extremism... I guess though that whoever switched to the imperial faith would make for good inquisitors...

It's not just probable. It's standard Imperial procedure.

My point was that most *really* religious people won't like or accept to change what they believe in, which means that people with no real belief would be more likely to "switch" over to the imperial faith while those that have a faith of their own they're much more likely to oppose directly the imperium, or continue their worship in secret (and be labeled as heretics once found).

the Ecclesiarchy would simply say the Emperor is Jesus/Allah/the Messiah
Muslims probably wouldn't buy the propaganda and would revolt under the influence of hothead religious leaders, getting exterminated in the process.
Hindus would be accepting of the creed as their religion claims all religions are one, but the Imperium might not look upon the practices favorably(namely the reincarnation and occult symbols) and might conduct a heavy suppression.
Atheists would be exterminated( there is only the Emperor )
Cults and various Tribal belife systems would be eradicated. except perhaps in the more remote areas which might end up as Marine recruitment grounds and as such need to be kept harsh.
Naw, see, we atheists simply ask for empirical evidence; show us divinity and we'll accept it.
