Ahhh... *dons ski mask...
Funnily enough I spoke with a uk mail forwarder last night via live chat, and they have a 'pay as you go' option (rather than general monthly membership mail forwarding).
I unfortunately forgot to copy/paste the conversation, however the total cost came down to approx 25-28 pounds = $35-$43 aus.
I think it broke down to...
1.50 (for something)
5.50 (for the PAYG option)
18.50 (standard royal air mail option - non signed for - which i have just recently used with maelstrom and no problems at all).
Get a group together and share the cost and could easily split that shipping fee.
Simply order from wayland/maelstrom and select the mail forwarding address you setup and they get sent the order, which then pass onto you.
I still can't believe us aussies are saving even with the shipping fee. Unreal...

with the New Zealand dollar on the rise over here (now up to 1.00 USD = 1.22582 NZD) I'd like to jump on this bandwagon.
I'll ask around at my local club this weekend (wellington warlords http://www.warlords.org.nz) ,but I'm pretty sure I could find enough people interested .

I'll jump on this bandwagon.
Anything that will get us (even closer) to getting even with GW is good.
Just a question, once inside of Australia, how would poeple 'pick up' their orders? Would you post normal mail/courier?
I do have free range on the mail room at work...

I vote we test out catchphrases on Kanluwen and other White Knights.
Please PM me your suggested phrases.
if they can keep a straight face while completing the purchase as we rag on GW, then they are clear. Automatically Appended Next Post: Capt. Rex wrote:I'll jump on this bandwagon.

We are hoping to establish something on the EU side of things that AUS/NZ can use for their various groups/clubs to place group orders (<$1000).

dunno if it helps but I am willing to ship for a couple of people and ship it to Aus for just actually costs via USPS or something. Maybe useful for smaller orders or something. I am trustworthy - good ebay rep and all that. As not a commercial transaction we can try and send it free via paypal as a person to person transaction

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games. |

Personally I am more than happy to 'bootleg' GW miniatures to Oz. I ought to, someone in the USA have been handling my purchases from Miniature Market over the last two years, if I cannot pay it back, pay it forward.
The way we worked it was that I would purchase stuff, mostly AT-43 and Confrontation, have it shipped to his house where he would de-package it and reship it as 'second hand', which it legally is outside the official box. This gave us the opportunity to set a fair but arbitrary value of the order for customs legally. Now the main benefit here was to repackage, Rackham was notorious for very bulky and thus expensive packaging. With GW boxes are fairly tightly packed with little waste but some volume and weifht saving is possible, in addition to the benefit of claiming second hand shipment.
Best way to handle this is via a Dakka 'club' with members near Dark Sphere, Weyland or Maelstrom collectively handling orders from Oz, its safer that way, after all the size and frequency of some of our forum members orders from Maeslstrom dwarf my own orders from Miniature Market.

As discussed in the "Is FW now cheaper than GW" thread:
Vehicle kits purchased from FW will now assist those in the Southern Hemisphere if you buy from the "GW Kits" section of FW...
Also, get a group order together and buy GBP 250+ for free shipping... its not difficult if it is a club order.

One solution is to debox everything, cut everything off the sprues, and ship it in the tightest possible packets and as many as possible keeping within reason. Taking say, 4 tanks apart, and packing them across two boxes having them look like bits deals, and shipping them a week apart....
Still, it relies on how well you can trust someone at the other end. I would be willing to do this, trouble is, I'd need to order from GC minis, get it in from vancouver, so.. 30% CAD-RRP, but overhead cost of shipping stuff twice. Even then, I am only willing to do this from the goodness of my heart for so long, so I need to get paid somehow, and it needs a wider network in case someone is watching how much mail I am sending...

Ordering from one of us UK entities then relying on a contracted third party can cause all sorts of issues should there be a problem, for example a box getting lost in the post.
We as a retailer will have additional liabilities for credit card users that are not under our control. I'm not suggesting you dont use forwarders just be wary. Many payment processors wont allow payments to be authorised unless the address is regsitered alongside the payment method.
However we will be making more announcements regarding our rest of world sales on Monday which should give you some hope.

I think anyone sending stuff to Oz should unpack it and mark it as a 'gift'. That way if customs open the box they won't be able to identify individual products (if they know anything about GW anyway) and it will be cheaper to post overall.
I doubt many people will be buying so much GW stuff that it means packages will be suspiciously large or heavy, a few sprues of marines and some lose metals doesn't take up a lot of room.
