Ok after much thought ive decided to go for a less piraty feel and go for somthing alittle similar. A more resistance style, a small band of resistance fighters based on the look of the resistance fall of man games. These will be IG models.

What do you think would make good chimera?

I plan on converting some army to resemble them lol

Ork Freebootas, it just doesnt get more pirate-y, going to wars, having fun, winning wars, looting and pillaging anything that's looks shiny or cool , then in the downtime, racing, eating, fighting, and polishing your shiny, over customized weapons. Character enough I guess, and very pirate-y

As far as pirates go trust me Red Corsairs are the best, they aren't as serious bussiness as you think, Huron Blackheart is as charismatic as they come. That said my gallery shows the RCs got hook hands, peg legs, treasure chests, and maps, etc. Pirates are fun ^-^ Why not be the best pirates out there?

DO what you want 'cause a pirate is free!

With that being said.... I'd go with anything and just make them pirates! The Red Corsairs look awesome and in all honesty an army is only as charismatic as it's leader. You could also field IG, go with Vet squads loaded inside of Valkyries/Vendettas and have jolly rogers painted on the wings. Find some pirate head bits and put them on the Catachan bodies and make your vendettas look "looted". Also, talk like a pirate and yell odd things whilst you play.

"War is not violence and killing, pure and simple; war is controlled violence, for a purpose. The purpose of war is to support your government's decisions by force. The purpose is never to kill the enemy just to be killing him but to make him do what you want him to do. Not killing... but controlled and purposeful violence."

I think he was talking about the bad guys from the Resistance games.
OP I think your chimera army should be necron counts-as

Apparently the Imperium is ill-equipped for a siege. Therefore I have proposed the development of siege guns, siege tanks, siege rockets, siege armor, siege planes, siege ships, siege wagons, siege bikes, siege boots, siege dogs, siege cats(for the siege rodents), siege eating utensils, siege horses, siege rations, and siege babies. Oh, and siege-spouses, especially of the female variant.

Ork Freeboters are the closest thing 40k has to what you're looking, I think. The bad thing is that the only Freebooter that has a model belongs wiht a unit that sucks (Flash Gitz).

What would serve better than IG is actually a Grey Knights army with Inquisitor coteaz and NO grey knights!

You would have the retinue characters to be combined to make really interesting squads.

The Death Cult Assasin = ultra badass sword fighter

The Jokero= the guy that makes big explosions, who knows what he'll blow up!

The trooper guys= more normal pirates armed with cannons/melta guns or plasma guns.

crusader= loyal body guards of the captain.

The acro-flagellant, banisher, or servitor all could be used for interesting characters.
And you can add to this with the temple assasins and a Storm Raven as your ship.
And you still have another HQ slot for another inquisitor with more of your own
flavor.

Ummm...somewhere...

Use the GK codex definitely, exactly what your looking for, use inquisitor Coteaz for henchman as troops, henchman can be all different kinds of people, whether it's swords and shields or rifleman, definitely perfect for pirate style armies, can use Valkyries and Stormraven gunships, dreadnoughts/dreadknights as robots for heavy support, the whole army is perfect for everyone to have their own small conversions, it's what I'm planning to do anyway

I happen to think Eldar are well suited to a pirate theme, you jet have to rethink the roles.

HEY, PEOPLE: OP CHANGED HIS MIND, READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH, PLAY RESISTANCE FOR THE PS3, UNDERSTAND WHAT HE MEANS BY CHIMERA; NOT THE TRANSPORT. GOT IT? I had to type in capital letters just to get it through.

We were still discussing what would make a good Pirate/rogue feeling force for the benefit of others than the OP. I liked reading some of the Eldar ideas.

A thread evolves beyond the OP.

I couldn't care less if the OP changed his mind. The thread title still says pirate/rouge which means people that come here are looking to either answer or gather ideas from this thread. Please refrain from typing in all caps it's irritating and causes me to think about attacking you with with Bananas.

Eldar are Corsairs, Dark Eldar are the EXTREME of pirating (looting, pillaging, murdering), Red Corsairs launch hit and run pirate attacks (plus Huron Blackheart-which forgeworld makes an AMAZING pre-heresy model of) and Orks would be the crazy/zany pirates. All are choices. Just remember to only play music that you've gotten off of limewire or kazaa while you play Also, use a PDF codex

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

You wouldn't be able to take a penitent engine.
You would have access to all the grey knights marine stuff but more importantly with
Inquisitor Coteaz you can create really eccentric units.

Henchmen warbands can be taken as troops if coteaz is taken

Warrior acolyte= basically a guardsman with access to some good and other worthless equipment.

Daemonhost= unpredictable

Death cult assassins are deadly with WS 5 S4 I6 and 3 attacks and a 5++ save

Crusaders are a really average statlined model with a power weapon and 3++ save.

Banishers= Religous fanatics that I seem to remember them getting re rolls against Daemons.
they can be upgraded to what is basically a chainfist.

Servitors= Gun or powerfist servitors

Jokero= can give you a random upgrade to either your shooting or saves, they also can use a couple different weapons
similar to an obliterator.

Mystic= I remember them basically being teleport relays.

All these models can be combined into one unit.

If you're prepared to wait a little, Imperial Armour Volume 11 will contain an Eldar Corsair list, allowing you to assemble a force of eldar pirates. I think if you're avoiding Orks that's the best way to do the kind of pirate army you want.
