I'm aware, but psyk-outs only work on their charge. So he may be in trouble if you are playing against a msu purifiers list where they have set up a good countercharge unit to back up whatever you get to, but for the most part if you can divide a unit of GKs from the main force then Meph will eat them for breakfast. In the case of that MSU purifiers list, I would put him in a razorback or behind my wall of tanks and blow them up with my longer range. Also, if they are playing true MSU they will most likely only have a five man squad with no hammer. Math on that with an attempt to FW is one wound done. And meph has a good chance to stop a ld 9 fw activation.
Again, if you are fighting against GK stormravens, then put him in a transport by himself. Mindstrike missiles aren't that good vs assault marines so hide your precious meph until you take their SR down.
As was said, keep him away from getting charged and use him as a countercharge and he should do fine. Not as well as he does against other armies, but he is by no means a slouch (unless you misplay him) Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm not trying to discount psyk-outs. I'm just saying there are many ways to avoid them with Meph.

Or you just Force Weapon him before he gets to swing? S10 hammers requires Hammerhand to go off anyway, so it's 1 psychic test anyway.

When I'm facing him with Eldar he isn't scary but does attract attention, you just have to keep track of him to prevent nasty surprises from happening. Usually I keep a Wave Serpent of Banshees near him, they always have a Farseer with Runes of Warding with them. The usual scenario is Meph getting some powers of as he moves across the field but also getting some wounds due to Perils, then it's very easy to finish him off with Banshees.
It doesn't mean he isn't viable or dangerous, it just mean you have to be very aware of what he is doing and come up with the right counter. For some armies it's gonna be easier then others.
