It was high time that I do one. I am trying to pay attention to everyones stuff I follow and apply it with this army. I am stoked to do a Ragnar style drop force. 100 GH minimum I think.

That's really nice, actually. Looks relatively easy, too.

Are you using an airbrush? Major Tom's article on Zenithal Highlighting is very useful too. (See #5 for power weapons):

I have tried an airbrush but I am not a fan. I am actually going to get rid of it because we have no room for it.

i am honestly not a fan of reflective power weapons that glow. I have helped with some physics studies at my school on lasers and things, and just almost 100% feel that is a wrong representation of said weapon. Rather i would look into something of heated metal or good old lightning depending on your fluff of the weapon. Is the metal heated with power to the point where atoms release electrons or are electrons shot through the metal. This well guide the effect on the blade. While the tut is good, just not right to me. For lightning there is some great tuts on you tube, and for the other effect start with the brightest at the base of the sword, and the edges of the blade, the center should stay darker and cooler as it is larger and has a better heat capacity then that of the edges. Effectively not glowing, but remaining hotter because it can hold more. If you did the center glowing hot, it would suggest the edges are about to melt. Then again warhammer doesn't follow physics - and the rule of cool really applies, but some times i like the rule of cool to exist within the narrow realm of possibility.

This is a great comprehensive arguement. I will look at the spectrum of green and see what I can come up with. Are you suggesting that a go from green to a white at the tip to show the spectrum of heat? Is that applicable to the above stated theory?

If you are doing green, avoid white. You dont want a drastically saturated white tip - if anthing perhaps a thin hair line on the very edge. Work for a bright red, and such. Keep the middle dark greenish (again look at heated metal photos) Notice the low white in only the edges. The darker areas are actually hotter then the glowing areas - the have a denser alloy or something like that. So going back to the paint. Do a very deep orange - with a brightest build up at the base of the handle with a dark orange middle and then heat back up with a greenly glow. you can lose the orange and do all of these in greens, if you only got one green that is alright. Mix it with black to make it darker, and white to make it brighter. This will provide you with a smother transition.

I will give it a go as soon as I can. Keep your eyes peeled. As always, thank you for the input.

I got the second wolf pack done! I still need to do the weapons on the the MOW but thatll be done anytime now. Here are a few pics.

Lastly,

I will say that I hate the SM Missile Launcher with a passion so I kitbashed some with Guard ones. I also made two plasma cannons out of some GK and Stormraven bits. Let me know what you think

really like the new missile launchers. You should be able to call GW costumer service and get a new logan sent to you. And i do digg those plasma cannons.

Looks like you made the best out of the bad cast if Logan. He looks really good. Heavy weapons are sweet. Never seen converted ML's. Great idea.

I could call GW Customer service but I figure meh. I will just ask them in person. I am not too worried about it.

Thanks for the comments guys. My GF is having her Gallbladder out right now so I will have a few days while she is zonked to do a little painting on these guys. I have a 750 point tourny that I will be attending at the end of the month! woot woot!

Those heavy weapons look really great, I especially like the bulky heavy plasma guns.

Thanks man. They look way better now that they are primed. Expect a painted update soon. I am really excited to get these done!

I got the base and the first wash done on these yesterday while I took care of the lady. They are coming along nicely. I will get some more pics up tonight!

Lookin' good, eldar. I love those Plasma Cannons. The MLs are cool, too, but it looks like the balst shield will be on the wrong side. Can you flip them so the blast shield will cover the marines face/body? Also, really love what you're doing with Grimnar, but could you switch the arms, so the shiled is in front and he has a chainfist on his right hand, like he's winding up to strike?

Keep up the great work.

MAn I would love to switch the blast shields but the I hacked up the test one pretty bad by trying ti grind off the eagle. I will keep trying though.

As for Grimnar, I am have a plan in mind so that the shield makes much more sense on the base! Stay tuned!

There are a few things that I need to pick up to finish him like the runes and a few of the fangs. That will have to come later.

I am quite impressed with the plasma cannons on the long fangs, and the missiles look great! the lone wolf is also brilliant, but the fur feels lacking! A good fix, or depth adder to the fur i suggest, is using a tan, white, or grey, dry brush over the fur. The color is up to you, but this will further add depth to it and be exciting. Just my opinion, it looks ok as is, but it has the power to be great! Also another idea, maybe, is also paint the fur to have different colored patchs, and paws? I suggest looking at whole photos like this

I love the Plasma Cannons, and nice work on Grimbar. The cape looks very nice.

Thanks for your praise. I enjoy looking at your stuff too. If you guys have not taken the time to check out each others work you should! 40kFSU has some of the coolest Guard around! Yellowbeard's P&M may be slow to update but it is worth it every time! Young_Logan's stuff has given me a lot of ideas on cool poses and the like.

I want to make the base look like he swatted away a missle! More to come on that. For now, I am working on getting the drop pod done for the 750 Point tourney this weekend. I lost a game against crons just barely but the long fang unit definately got them and the destroyer lord after 4 turns of shooting.
