Well, the weapons are probably similar, and from what I remember from the sprue I got, there should be enough gubbinz and bitz to approximate any items you might need.

But as for the scale, the Mantic dwarves are about 50% taller if not more, approximately a head shorter than a GW Empire/Brettonian human but just as wide as a GW dwarf. The models look fantastic, but I have a strong suspicion it would be very visually jarring to see them mixed in a unit like that.

WYSIWYG for equipment is probably pretty good but they are quite different in style and size. Mixing in the same unit is going to look odd. If you want filler for your GW regiments, I'd recommend EM4's plastic Dwarves (formerly made by Grenadier. They aren't going to look exactly the same, but they're much closer in size and style to GW. Here's a picture showing a GW plastic dwarf musician (from the former box set) in front with an EM4 plastic dwarf in back

They are monopose, and only available in 3 different pose/types (Spear, axe and crossbow) but at 30 cents a piece, they're quite a bargain.

Do note that shields are sold separately for the EM4 dwarves. They're only about 2 bucks for 50, but just something to remember.

There's a slight height bump in the mantic line, but it's no where near 50%...

Ah, my mistake. I was going off of mental remembering of my brother's GW dwarves rather than any actual models.

Hmmm, looking at the ones that I have - they are about the same size as some of the older plastic dwarfs by GW, but larger than the current crop.

I suspect that mixing inside of units would be more noticeable than just mixing inside of the army.

That said - I have a mixed unit of AoW and KoW berserkers... yeah, pretty noticeable. The styles do not blend as a unit. (The KoW berserkers are ugly-fat - like weight lifters gone to seed. I like them quite a bit. But I also like the AoW berserkes....)

Amen to the non-cartoon orcs. I've been waiting so long for non-silly orcs. Oh, and the Forgefathers are pretty sweet looking too.
