Peregrine has a point as well. Nobody really likes something made for everybody, but some people really like things made for a particular group. It's simple marketing.
Plus, you know, making the prototype before asking for help. You genuinely have copyright over all of your IP, you just need to type in how the IP can be used. Publishing secures it further, as you can say 'I made X at this time' and show it on your post.
