You know, if I could pass a 4+ invuln to save my life I would probably take more shield drones as ablative wounds, or even gun drones, but seeing as for me at least a shield drone almost always seems to fail it's save (especially when I need it), and the fact that I can be counted on to fail 1 out of 3 LD checks (yes I roll that bad, really). I believe I will still be limiting them to probably just ML support.

I'd use Bunker instead of Bastion. It's smaller (harder to hit), holds 20 models as well, wide firepoints and it's cheaper

Yes. Eight models can fire out of a bunker: broadsides plus five drones. Is this worth it for the fire output? I reckon. And ther is a good option for the model if you use the forgeworld bunker and close a section, I reckon. Thinking strongly of this for my pure tau list.

Its in the main rule book actually. stronghold adds optional rules and makes no mention of embarking. so refer to page 93 of the BRB which then tells you to refer to page 78

Extremely bulky is in the BRB under bulky

My regular Tau opponent runs a squadron of gun drones, I don't know any other players who do but they can be a right pain in the butt. Even with the low BS they still lay down enough hits and wounds to force saves from my Marines and can get around the table quickly.

I don't think they have ever won him a game but they have certainly slowed down a unit or two of mine as I switch plans for a turn to get rid of them allowing him time to move his scoring units.

drones are excellent idea to use in a crisis suit team I cant count the number of times I fired heavy weapons at my opponents crisis suit team only to kill drones instead

Drones are pretty useful.......
As shields they are good in conjunction with stealth teams
They are a bit gak in offense though...
Ah well

why is everyone so afraid of self promotion? a forum is a perfect place to talk shop and work trades! I have a ton of drones but I like options so i keep em around.

Probably because a lot of forums dont like you saying anything related to making a profit for yourself outside of a dedicated forum. Not sure how dakka view it, but i dont ever sell anything so i wouldnt know anyway lol.

I would imagine dakka is fine with it long as you arent overboard with it, since i see people do it all the time.

Sniper drones are really good in some situations. They have enormous bs5 and outstanding 48 rapid fire range on sniper guns.
