Another sporadic update- I've been hammering away at the unpainted pile and I'm actually starting to make some dents in my Epic stuff, which would be great if I stopped buying even more!

Added a bunch of the brand new affray sculpts from vanguard to my Emperors children. New on the right side of the photo, the older sculpts on the left.
I've got a bunch more to do still but I'm waiting on the heavy weapons to be delivered as they have only just been released. The new sculpts are amazing. Having the shoulder trim sculpted on saves so much time than having to paint it all free hand!

Managed to paint a whole lot of Orks as well, but waiting to base up a huge batch in one go as I've so many to get painted, but can batch base an awful lot more in one go than I can stand to batch paint!

Painting some big batches of Orks, but painted a couple of my favourite models separately for fun.

Squiggoth is from troublemaker games feral skinner range. I swapped out the crew for some of the orks in the feral skinner character & troops packs. They are great minis but way too large to mix with the rest of my feral ork stuff, but it's not noticeable when used as crew. The left over crew can be mixed in with my feral stuff as they are a lot weedier. Not sure how I'm going to end up basing my feral ork force, don't know if I want it to match my regular ork army or do something different to mix it up.

Also got around 100 big gunz and Kannons to paint, but I'm very likely to flake out on them before getting any where near that amount done! But made sure to pull the grot bomber out and do him first as I think this mini is fantastic! Going to add the bad moon flames, but needed to leave it until my eyes are good and rested and not try to get it done in the middle of the night!

Instead of finishing the batches of infantry I was meant to be doing, I painted a stompa instead! Picked up a few rarer models I'd been chasing down in a really good trade and these were sold as a bundle with one of the other models I'd been after. Didn't have any of the old metal ones, only the plastic ones, so pleased to have these to add to the collection!

Very characterful greenskins, and fantastic work for such a tiny scale. I cent coin much appreciated!

Baron, don't forget to talk about the SEALs and Marines you habitually beat up on 2 and 3 at a time, as you PM'd me about.

Thanks!

So I was asked to write an article on my Inq6 project, which has just been published in the newest volume of '28' magazine. For those that haven't seen 28 before, it's a free digital publication that covers the more unique and grim dark aspects of the warhammer universes.

You can get Volume 3 (and the previous volumes) free from here: https://28-mag.com/2020/09/26/vol-3-is-here/

We had a big game/campaign planned for over the Easter holiday, which would have meant a brand new table, but like most things this year, that plan became kaput. I've painted up a fair bit of the Inq6 backlog now, though I've even more stuff that's been slowly arriving/been built during the lockdown. I'm going to be pretty tied up for the next 8-12 months but after that we will try to rearranged our big campaign and get the new table done.

Been very slowly working my way through more of my ork backlog. A very huge mega sized bad moon big gun and a whole bunch of crew.

Just finishing up a batch of infantry next, which includes rebasing a couple of my stands that had the old (horrid) sand basing.

Finished up some Bad Moon infantry today & rebased a couple of older stands with the new basing materials. I do need to add the snow and more tufts, but I'll rather do that in one huge batch when I've gotten through a lot more of the backlog!

My camera on my phone really hates photographing Epic, I'll have to fish my proper camera out soon or invest in something with a proper macro lens!

Sadly had to cancel my Epic 40k 3rd Ed games over the Christmas holidays due to sickness (two Christmases in a row now! )

But made more progress on my Nurgle traitor guard though. Found a paint scheme that I actually liked AND was quick to do. Need to base up a load of the infantry now, but just not had the push to get them done.

The tank riders are pinned where possible and whilst I don't recommand moving them by grabbing them directly, they are not going to come off any time soon. They do only have a very small contact area for gluing otherwise. For the kneeling chap, the trick is to leave the sprue attached and then cut that down to size to use as the pin. The sitting chap can be attached without being pinned, as you can re-enforce the bond with a glue/bi-carb mix behind him which is then hidden in the final model.

Me: "let's get this army finished asap"
Also Me: "Yes, painting hazard stripes on individual swords won't eat up my limited painting time" 😬

Loving this thread, some real old fashioned scratch building here.

Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying it! I love scratch building at this scale, but its also why it takes me forever to get things painted, I'm always tinkering with new kits & junk!

========================================================================================================================

Somehow missed this one from my last Ork update. I had painted a new version of the battlewagon (got quite a few more to do, but always like to do a test one first) and made some more ork terrain, this time from 40ks 2nd edition era! Some tiny spikey things!

Renegade Chaos Knight:

Originally built as a 'end game boss' for Inq6 games (The teeny tiny inquisitor was going to have to try and blow it up), I really like the idea of having a whole bunch of these on the table top so I'm going to have to gather some more these skull things and make a full detachment for my traitor guard.

Man I love epic, it’s great to see it still being painted and played. Awesome work all around
