Yeah, which is massively unfortunate. It's really cut down on the variety of lists. Which was saying something since a big complaint with Mk2 was that there wasn't as much variety in viable choices as there could be.

Not entirely true. Heavy Warbeasts were not stuck with 0.5" melee range for their weapons just like the Heavy Warjacks. While not as powerful as the Warjack's Power Up feature, the ability for the Warlock to keep drawing Fury from dead Warbeasts helped offset one of biggest weaknesses of the Warlock, almost as much as Power Up did for Warcasters.

But as you said, there was already a significant imbalance already in place with Warbeasts already providing greater benefit over all over Warjacks. They provided more spells to the Warlock, and, until they died, can keep powering their Warlock instead of being a limitation.
