I as well am too easily distracted.

What I found helpful was the simple decision to hit an armywide quality milestone and only worry about pushing it further later. That means I prefer to have all models painted and based over having a squad done with minute attention to detail while others are sad and grey.

I think it comes down to having an army with a quick scheme if you aren't disciplined enough to finish a whole really nice army.

My word bearers paint really quickly, hold my attention by having tons of different schemes in an army (AKA: Gal Vorbrak are gonna get an even darker red with an effect that looks like the army is burning in the corners. IDK about Ashen Circle, but they might be the traditional grey).

I play with tons of grey plastic, but I never play with half painted plastic, so I don't have a bunch of WIP dudes, everyone either hasn't been started, painted, or sitting on the painting desk and not moving until they are finished.

Also, don't get burned out. Try to change it up.

ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is a pain.

Get distracted easy or day dream and lose a lot of time.

Oh I have a bunch of skitarii to paint.... Shiny knight needs building.... Tank needs gluing together..... Still need to finish the skitarii.....Oh, heres a ww2 fighter model to convert into a Land Speeder Tempest..... Gotta paint the Knight....

The cycle is endless.....

What is annoying is more often than not, at some time like 2am the world is dead quiet and I get a ton of things done, but I don't want to be awake at such an hour as I want a normal(ish) sleep schedule. But nothing I can do.

I havn't gone through the cycle for a while now as when I moved I don't have room to building/painting. Just need a place to play and build, but that's gonna be sorted out later.

Regiment: 91st Schrott Experimental Regiment
Regiment Planet: Schrott
Specialization: Salvaged, Heavily Modified, and/or Experimental Mechanized Units.
"SIR! Are you sure this will work!?"
"I HAVE NO IDEA, PULL THE TRIGGER!!!" 91st comms chatter.

Good to hear that im not the only one out there. So next thing i need to do is come up with a plan on how to stop buying and to start churning through the back log. First thing i need is a dedicated paint station and some order to the grey tide. So with that on my mind whats to paint for next months competition (laughs manically away into the night).

Set a deadline.

If there's a GW store near you then they have something going on called The Inner Circle. It's like armies on parade but laid back, it's worth asking about.

Create a board of our army, or at least with the unpainted models in your army. Get them done and based.

The good news is I painted four miniatures this week!

The bad news is I spotted a really good deal on the Escape From Goblin Town box set on ebay. That's another 56 miniatures to add to the pile of shame.

An upside is that I rarely struggle to find something to paint for the monthly competitions.

haha...the good ol' monthly painting challenge...that can either help or hurt our "problem" sometimes...sure, it can help to clear something odd out of our backlog...but it can (and often does) also mean starting some new random project while you're already in the middle of four others

aww feltmonkey nooo! ...I've been real tempted a few times by sweet ebay deals on that set...luckily that's been one of the few things I've sobered up on and not actually bought yet

...it's good to be green!

Recently i had an epiphany. I suck at staying with painting and finishing an army.
I came to that realisation a while back. My suggestion is throw something together at a really low standard so you actually have something to play games with, even if it looks like crap.... then just embrace that you don't have the patience to do any better

I just hop from project to project these days, knowing full well I'll never finish a sizeable army again in my life. So I only ever buy singular kits to fiddle with rather than getting deluded and buying a whole army that I'll never finish

Congrats on the ebaying Mr Feltmonkey lol.

I've managed to stay away from that deamon infested site (my slaaneshi indulgence doesn't need the temptation) and even though i did call into my new FLGS yesterday i managed to leave with the bank breaking 5 new citadel paints. Including some typhus corrosion for some yummy zombies im painting.

But theres another problem on the horizon (dun dun dun) PAYDAY. AAARRRGGGHHHHHH its only a week away nnnnnnnnooooooo.
