Mine is a lovely 3rd Edition 40K story from Phoenix Rising, a store that used to operate in Ft. Wayne, IN. We had a guy who played Biel Tan Eldar with the most obnoxious shooting army you could imagine. Reapers and Starcannons everywhere, with a squad of Banshees held back to wipe up anyone able to weather the storm. He would always castle up in one area of the board and make you walk through the wall of death.
He knew I played Crimson Fists, and had caught be with this army once before, so when I came in with a list I wanted to try out, he didn't even question it. Gleefully he offered a game, and we set up. After his first Heavy Support was placed, he turned almost excitedly and asked me to deploy my first Heavy. I informed him that I not only had NO Heavy Support, but that my entire army was in reserve. This was his first time playing against the first iteration of Legion of the Damned in 3rd Edition, and I had built this army specifically to face him. Well, I rolled decently for my reserve rolls and, while outnumbered, was able to dish out more damage than he was able to withstand. He very loudly declared that he would not play me again. And to this day, he never has.
