If people want to avoid recasts don't buy off ebay.

It's as simple as that.

If it's really something that you have moral hang ups about, or your worried about the potential dishonesty of the transaction, then don't buy from nobodys over the internet.

The moment you go shopping for resin models on Ebay you should expect, at minimum, a 50% chance that whatever your getting is at least partially a recast. If that risk is too high for you don't buy from there.

I currently own 3 forgeworld hive tyrants I got off ebay and 1 I got off Dakka. A super OOP model. One model came primed white and was partially damaged (patched up into my swarmlord) really have no idea if it's a recast or not since it had a coating on it. The first one I got I thought was legit, until I got the 2nd and 4th which came in FW bags and now I am 100% sure that first one was a recast.

Oh well. Is what it is.

Good rule to go by on sites like Ebay is if it been OOP for awhile its a recast, saves everyone alot. Since its OOP they're able to charge whatever they want and If someone wants it bad enough they'll pay what the person wants or go without.

I've come across this situation before and is it probably a recast? Yeah. But did I get the OOP model I wanted. you bet your backside I did.

Also, I have seen some recasts that are a far higher quality to FW for 1/4 of the price. A guy I met had a Heirophant biotitan. No bowing in the legs at all. I asked him how he managed to do that since it's a notorious problem on the model.

Turns out the recaster puts brass rods in the legs in the mold to give them more support.

I don't play on the Titan scale and am only recently and still in the process of working on kit bashing a hierodule (prefer plastic whenever I can), but if I had a choice of a $300.00 forgeworld model notorious for getting fethed due to it's materials and design or a 75.00 recast with the extra work put in to fix those issues I know which one I would want to buy.

Thanks everyone for all the responses, however it seems some action has been happening in the background as the item in question has been removed along with all other items from said seller (4 days before the Laser destroyer bidding ended). Im guessing some kind of legal action happend.

Also to clarify this was the title of said item.

Destroyer Tank hunter Forgeworld Imperial Guard warhammer 40K astra militarum

Now should I post the sellers name or is it better to keep it away?

Im just mostly sad that I will not have to wait for most likely a long time before I can get the chance to buy a Destroyer

Incidentally, being plastic does not mean that something is not recast. The Chinese recasters are supplying their own chimera and leman russ track unit sprues and they are clearly not genuine. (they're close but there are differences between them and the genuine parts)

So I thought this chapter was finished, however the said seller has begun relisting items again. So this time im gonna post link to seller as some may know if the person is legit or not.

The destroyer and thunderer being supplied with the new russ sprue (which chinese resellers are having made) screams recast to me. Also, he's shown those sprues with the interesting side down in both cases... with a shot of the other side we could have verified if those were genuine sprues or not.

They are very clean though (assuming that those pictures of parts are what you actually receive).

Almost certainly recasts.

Firstly, although it's less well known, Spain is actually quite a common source for recast models.

Secondly, if you look at the "finecast" female Inquisitor, you can see it isn't finecast but a different sort of resin, and the quality is worse even than I'd expect from finecast, the problem with which was always casting flaws, not the shoddy detail that this exhibits.

Oh, and check the feedback, every item sold is FW or old GW, and there's even a negative for fakery in the last few weeks.
