It's funny how leaving out one word changes the meaning of a sentence. It went from the intended meaning - that I wasn't making an unwarranted assumption but rather basing my statement on the facts as presented in the OP - to something rather derogatory.

I suppose we could argue over the definition of "the net profit from their incomes", but I'd say it's definitely not their total income.
