I forgot to plug www.davesbaggagetrain.com

That's where I get all of my magnetized trays and bags to hold them. I have no idea what his shipping is like to the wider world, as I live right nearby his shop, but he makes good stuff. Once he mailed me something that broke in transit and he sent a replacement post haste.

The bags are nice, too.

I have a KR multicase setup from a year ago.

Expensive, but easily expandable. And email them (the site is an absolute nightmare, but their customer service is excellent).

I'm still kinda tempted to get some KR, maybe I'll just list what I need and ask a quote via email then... I mean shoe boxes are great and all but I really need something more elegant.

GW cases are pretty solid but although they are "modular" it's also a bit of a hassle to put your guys into them, and they don't eat vehicles bigger than a Rhino very easily.

KR, no question. GW and similar cases are utter trash, the hard foam with large air pockets to snag delicate bits on is a great way to damage your models. KR foam is soft and dense, I've had zero concerns about rubbing paint off or breaking parts.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Cases for big vehicles are a bit of a sore point. You can get 4 drop pods into a KR case, which costs more than another drop pod. Case-per-model prices swing wildly.

That's pretty unavoidable. Of course the case per model price will be much worse on large models.

i'm looking at using Sabol's Army Transport system to lug around my new infantry-heavy IG army (it will ALWAYS be Imperial Guard to me)

The 2" precut with 36 slots for infantry looks perfect for 120+ guardsmen with various weapons. But how will I fit my 15 Heavy Weapons Teams?

I showed another friend the KR foam. He likes them too, he plays DE and isn't really impressed by the full standard case only holding 4 raiders

Anyone use a crystal fortress case? They look sweet, but looks like it might be slow to assemble/disassemble during a tournament.

I actually just got the DE1 foam with an order, and once you see it, it makes a lot more sense. I will probably end up adjusting the spacer foam at the bottom though.

Yes, they are awesome, but wayyy expensive. I'm using a set for my heroscape figures, but I prefer KR for my massive 40k collection. The tourny case set things are quick to deal with for moving models, but I'm not sold on their carrying solution, it moves way to much for my taste, magnets non-withstanding. However, having everthing magnized means any fiddley models are safe from everything.

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

The game doesn't need super space marines, it needs more variety.

It doesn't matter if you're not dominating the game; if you have 3-4 x as many models and options than the rest of us and you're still getting new kits, we're still gonna rip on the faction. If I had 100 + Drukhari kits all in plastic to choose from, or 100 + Sisters kits, I think I'd be more likely to be receptive to Space Marine player's complaints about anything.

Got to give a shout out to Tabletop Tyrant.

I asked them what would be the best fit for for my miniature needs and they replied promptly. The foam is high quality and the case I ordered may be cardboard, but it's black and red for sexiness and its Coating is waterproof.

Also, their website was a breeze to use and their build your own case function was fantastic = choose your case and whatever foam you pick, it deducts it from the remaining space in the case with a visual picture so you can see how it will look too. Nifty!
