The updated OP is very helpful! I can see your reasoning on scale, but maybe you should just call it 15mm even if it's a bit oversized (that's what everyone is doing with 28mm these days, with GW being a primary culprit! But I think you'd get a better reception than calling it 20mm).

Unfortunately, so far only the first render appeals to me =/

I'm really curious to see how these Kannid's develop, but 20mm is dead to me. I play 40k almost exclusively and if they don't match up to my other figs, I wouldn't even take them if you gave them away for free, unfortunately, as I'd have no use for them.

RiTides - I like it! It's not 20mm, it's heroic 15mm

Honestly, it already sounds much better to me with that

I've been looking for a good 15mm game, and if it's "heroic" it will still blend in much better with that scene than the 35mm-or-what-have-you that GW / Malifaux / Kingdom Death / Privateer Press have migrated to.

To be honest the rules could easily be used with 15mm miniatures and some of our models (especially the aliens and some of the smaller vehicles) could work alongside existing 15mm ranges.

Humans would look a bit odd and some of our larger vehicles would be like super heavies! (The TCU Lancehead for example has a footprint of approx 95mm by 50mm by 40mm tall)

So, back from a trip with the kids and ready for more previews!

First up - TCU troopers:

These are your basic human infantry for the game. Although this is a 'group shot' the missile teams (which are based in pairs) will be sold separately from the basic troops (who are based individually).

For a better idea of scale this is a shot of a trooper with a quick-and-dirty paint job compared to the leading brands! (Perry Miniatures DAK for Bolt Action and GW Space Marine)

Next - The Kannid "Ridgeback" Recon Mech:

Because Kannid speech cannot be rendered by human vocal chords (and vice versa) the two species use AI interpreters to communicate. Proper names are almost impossible to render so Kannid military units are referred to by the designations assigned by human military intelligence.

By the way - the mech is a beast of a model standing 3-4 times the height of infantry (depending on pose, this will be a multi-part kit so you can articulate the legs, arms and head) and is not the biggest Kannid mech...

Finally, MoB Games will be attending 'The Other Partizan' wargaming event in Newark, UK, on Sunday 19th August for the first public demo game of Fractured Stars. We will be displaying all the models that will form the initial (pre-stretch goal) run of the kickstarter, along with a few as-yet-unseen surprises. We will be laying out our game on the 3' by 3' mat that will also be available as part of the kickstarter, and using the buildings that will come with every pledge for models.

If you're interested and want to see what you will be pledging for 'in the flesh' we hope to see you there and we will be putting up images of the event afterwards for those unable to attend.

Cool name indeed, and I hate to add my name to the chorus...

But 20mm?!

If you want your game to succeed, reconsider. Go either 30mm (ie, 40K) or 5-10mm (ie, Epic or AT), as the industry standard has games and figures that would allow us to get in and go deep fast. I'm afraid I'm one of many here: just can't handle another scale!

I play...

Sigh.

Who am I kidding? I only paint these days...

Please take this in the spirit in which it is intended: Don't roughly paint your product and then present it to the public.

You missed an opportunity to blow us away, using a paintjob that compliments and showcases the detail of your miniature. Instead you have shown us a blobby drybrush and base the same color as boots, making your product look inferior to the others presented for scale.
The scale marine, with no paint, looks better than your product (which you are trying to sell to us) here because the uniformity of the black undercoat allows us to see variations in texture. We can see a face on the Perry miniature due to natural shadows. In contrast either the detail is too soft or you have covered it up on your trooper.

The background and angle are poorly chosen as well.

Contrast this with an unpainted comparison here:

Or this similarly pretty picture.

You may disagree and feel that a scale shot is a just a scale shot- but this is (one of ?) the first miniature you have shown us and it doesn't show your work in a positive light.

I wish you the best with your endeavours.

Been lurking around this project for a while and am idly curious. I like the 2 renders for the TCU and the Kannids mech, less sold on the Kannids infantry and the Supremacy vehicle.

The scale doesn't bother me too much but would hope any pledges come with suitable scenery. I'd also like to see how big the vehicles are compared to the infantry.

What are you making this stuff in? And what kind of price are you looking at? As a gamer on a budget I'm willing to forgive the less than stellar presentation (I'm assuming that as well as mob being new they're also not in advertising) as long as the quality is good, the background is interesting, the rules are competent and the price is decent....

...so not much then lol

Fully agree with Angel.

If you're trying to sell us this game, at a scale that's not very popular or well-used, you really do need to blow us away with your painted photos.

Your model in the middle is clearly the least appealing of all three in your scale shot.

I'm still open to having my mind changed, but you're not off on the right foot.

Best of luck!

I play...
