There's a steakhouse chain near me called Firebirds. Their food is all wood-fire-grilled everything. I love their Durango burger. It's pretty simple, just cheese, crispy fried onions, pickles and homemade ranch dressing. I always add bacon to mine though, because bacon.

Spooky thing is... since I made this post the other day, I'm suddenly seeing "best burger" videos popping up on my youtube home screen. Someone is spying on me!

I don't like too much on my burgers; cheese, perhaps crispy bacon, tomato, a bit of lettuce, some onion or an onion ring, ketchup and mayo (lettuce and mayo on the bottom, then burger, then cheese, then toppings and ketchup).

I did have a burger once in one of those hipster burger places that was served between two halves of a glazed doughnut - odd, but not actually unpleasant. All the gravy and sauce fell out the hole in the middle, though, and went down my shirt.

I like Onions, Cocktail Sauce and/or Pico De Gallo salsa.

People look at me weird when I mention cocktail sauce, but my family figured out ages ago that its bascilly spicy ketchup, which is an instant win.

Cocktail sauce? You mean the stuff that goes on a Prawn Cocktail? That's be Marie Rose sauce.

From Wikipedia:
"Marie Rose sauce (known in some areas as cocktail sauce or seafood sauce) is a British condiment made from a blend of tomatoes, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and pepper. A simpler version can be made by merely mixing tomato ketchup with mayonnaise. The sauce, as well as cocktail sauce, were invented in the 1960s by British cook Fanny Cradock.[1] "

Pretty sure that's how my mum makes it, too; Heinz ketchup, mayonnaise and some lemon juice.

Never had the glazed donut burger, but I do love a good burger on an "everything" bagel. the hole is a pain but it does give you a good excuse to obnoxiously lick your fingers and then pick the poppy seeds out of your teeth in public.

Soooo basically every burger joints special sauce replacing pickle brine for lemon juice.

That's British. Don't you know that the word 'British' is ancient American for 'Doing it wrong'

In all seriousness - in America there's a slightly different receipe. From Wiki:

In America it generally consists of, at a minimum, ketchup or chili sauce mixed with prepared horseradish. Lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce are common additives, often all three.[3] Some restaurants use chili sauce, a spicier tomato-based sauce in place of the ketchup.

I like to put a smaller burger on my burger. Then on top of that - yes - an even smaller burger.

I like Radicchio and baby lettuce leaves, tomato and mustard together with some nice mountain cheese I get from a local cheese shop. Good quality beef is a must, as is some nice not too sweet buns. Sometimes I also take brie with some mango chutney my mum sometimes makes.

Edit: Typo

I looooove me some bacon, fried onions, and cheese on a burger, but a surprisingly delicious option that I tried at a local burger joint...

Pickles and peanut butter.

I know it sounds crazy, but if you've got a good quality burger (just a bit of salt and pepper in the meat, a little crispy on the outside, nice and juicy on the inside) then the nutty sweetness of the peanut butter melting over the top just accentuates it beautifully. The sharp dill flavor of the pickles gives a great contrast to that, making for a really nice (if unique) combination. Bonus point for being super easy to make your own at home.

An over easy egg is just awesome. Otherwise I'm a big fan of the seasoning that goes into the meat. That'll make or break a burger

Grubbs Paradise Burger from Grubbs in Brighton.

Burger, peanut butter, pineapple and banana.

Sounds vile, but I promise you it’s not!
