We'll find out soon enough eh.

That makes zero sense. AdMech should be almost as resistant to boarding as Marines, since their ships will be crawling with heavy combat servitors and Classiarii.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

They have troops on board almost as good as marines, a high boarding damage basically, but they dont have a lot of crew on their ships, which is accurate, they use mostly servitors, so they are good at boarding, but horrible at being boarded as they lack a large crew.

It is a bit dim

So, BETA Round 2 is coming up January 15th with more Imperium Campaign, improved Skirmish mode, and with bits of Necron campaign. The teaser shows the Imperium Campaign will once again focus around Admiral Spire returning from being lost in the warp for 800 years. Thats pretty neat!

Does the second beta basically run to the release date (the 24th)?

I like that Tindalos et al. are listening to our feedback, and will be giving us the ability to remove the capture points in skirmish mode. Nice plus.

Depends on the fleet it seems. But a lot of the people I've watched definitely had to adjust their rosters between beta1 and beta2

Also, expect more points tweaks in the future. Most fleets have around a 45-46% win rate, but Tyranids are way, way up there at around 71% (which is clearly too high), orks at 59% and marines coming in third (48%), but marines apparently have to go with light cruiser spam focused on assaulting over and over and over again, and leaving enemy ships as drifting hulks. (this is also one of the major tyranid strategies).

Eldar corsairs are apparently at the bottom of the win rate (24%!), and chaos surprises me by being statistically low (42%). Mechanicus are only lagging a little (44%)

@iGuy91- are you sure its skirmish mode? The update only suggests a change to campaign gameplay.
https://forums.focus-home.com/topic/34896/community-update-18-january-2019
“I don’t like the domination mode in campaign.”
Well, It will be pretty easy for us to add a game option that allows the player to remove capture zones during campaign battles in order to play with just the “extermination” win condition. We still believe that domination mode provides a better in-game experience, as it adds a tactical layer to battle as well as improving the game balance, but we understand the desire to annihilate your enemies.

This may or may not happen by release.

One thing that apparently will happen is leveling/unlocking skills against AI.

Huh, might have missed that.
But i gotta say, I'm pumped that they also are allowing us to level up fleets in single player skirmish instead of just in multiplayer skirmish.

Currently, boarding is really OP for factions with good boarding quality, that, and nids and marines are basically fearless. Orks...Orks are just bizarre.

In the hands of a good player several fleets are mega powerful

Craftworlders torp spam
Chaos Kite lances
Chaos GC carrier spam
Marine LC torp spam
Imperial Vengeance spam
Imperial LC Dauntless spam (either works)
Ork Cruiser (mega cannon) spam

While others are simply point and click easy levels of win
Ork LC spam
Ork Brute ramship spam (Hilarious)
Dark Eldar "I dont want to play" fleet, basically just cap for the win

Then you get the "do not even bother" rank
Dual Battlebarge
Chaos LC spam

As you can likely tell Spam is a big issue with this game, if you are playing imperials stay away from the Battleships, they are all a liability at the moment.

Other general tips are

Always kill enemy frigates ASAP, they will just cap around your main engagement and even if you win that, you still lose the game, always have a frigate to mark enemy ships ASAP.

Brace and all ahead is a good way to kite bombers and fighters through your fleet to kill them off, this is a good counter to Tau ordnance spam.

ALWAYS target engine first, unless its the admiral ship in which case you target the Deck first, it removes most abilities from the command ship, destroying engines gives you such a tactical edge for both capping and kiting too.

Well the campaign starts of slow and then goes all hands on deck if you do not turn of the emeregency gauge. Witch I recomend since it is then the game comes alive as a decent space oriented empire builder, some of the fleet battels during the campaing as the Imperium is absolute insane as well, witch is good fun. The MP is more of a mixed bag but I am not really well versed in its finer workings to give a proper statement on it.
But I would say wait a bit before getting it. I have gotten several bugs and crashes during my campaings and the fact that you are missing one of the four promised campaigns is not good either, But all in all its a good way to pass the time

Sorry for not being clear, terrible, it's terrible, you will win a couple of games but on the whole Chaos LC Are pretty bad, and dual battlebarge is laughably easy to beat, just board one to oblivion and kite the other, between then they only have 2 boarding actions which is what marines need to win, fun to ram stuff though.

I am very sad to hear that. As dumb as it was, I had tons of fun with dual battlebarge boarding torpedo cheese in the first game.

I agree it had to go, but it still makes me a little bit sad.

How about Acherons, are they good? They were one of my favourite ships from BFG:A1.

Acherons are excellent IMO.

I actually rather like the Emergency Gauge for the Campaign. It adds a sense of urgency, and rewards efficient engagement. Taking on an 1100 point invasion fleet without taking a causalty lets me then spend battleplans, open up a raiding point in the obsidian depths, and take out the eldar in that region, securing me a system.

That being said, I have yet to encounter the bugs, and I'm just getting into battlecruisers now.

without going into spoilers, make sure you have max fleets and max numbers.

Also in spoiler a spoiler that has a bug attached.

MASSIVE FLEETS AND GODSHIPS

https://steamcommunity.com/games/573100/announcements/detail/1643161387040675060

I think that sums it up and might well be what tips me over into joining in. The larger fleets is actually more of a draw than godships because whilst those look freaking awesome; its the ability to take bigger fleets and more ships that really interests me!
