Small update, Still working on the Purestrains! Progress has been slow, I'll admit that I haven't been able to put much time into them, also, they have been more time consuming than I expected, particularly some of the bases!

I'm nearly there, and I'll update update with a shot of all 22 when I'm done... but for now, here's a couple of shots of one of my favorite so far:

He had quite a scenic base so I really tried to make the most of it. Most of the weathering got covered up by gore effects, but there's plenty of other plain bases for that.

I used my favorite reds to create a grimdark Blood Angels scheme that I'm really enjoying painting so much, that I bought the new Mephiston. BA were actually my first models and codex, back when I was about 10 years old, so I had to give this throwback model a whirl. His base is juuuust big enough to include some Tyranid parts on it, which I'm going to do. I'm really loving this BA / Nid rivalry and I'm gonna keep incorporating it into my models.

Okay so I really need to retake some of these photos, first attempt at new camera some of the settings may be a little too much lol

But, just wanted to share that I finished all 22 Purestrains, and the Patriarch himself.

Here's a couple of shots of a few Purestrains, they aren't much different to the ones you guys have already seen, but here's a couple of (overexposed) shots of them:

and some bloody bois:

But the real prize was the Patriarch - all these guys so far have just been practice for him.

hopefully I haven't overloaded you guys here! It's been a little while since I updated, but life for me has been ridiculous. A couple more models and the project is done, but (and I swear this) the best is yet to come!

I love that iconward, though i worry about him accidentally falling over with that icon! Kidding, of course, it's amazing work.

The genestealer bursting through the floor is great as well. It looks so happy

realism is a lie

Thanks mate. The official Iconward model is great but also kinda sneaky. I wanted something a bit more heroically inspiring, to inspire true fervor in battle amongst my cultists and spur on the waves into certain death, so I really tried to capture that here.

I used a lot of different kits to bring it together and also some greenstuff, but I think he's my favorite conversion I've yet achieved. Also, it was another excellent opportunity to add a tie in to my Tyranid hivefleet arriving to consume everyone. The base is be counterweighted so that he sits very neatly now.

And yes, that Genstealer busting out of the floor is truly ecstatic that his moment has finally arrived! lol
