Literally nowhere did I say that.
I said this:
Or you could accept that they're not meant to be a "normal" army.
Nowhere do I say they shouldn't be an army or any such nonsense.
Either way i personally would like to see this idea explored a bit more.
The issue that I see, personally, with it?
There just isn't room to really explore the concept. They're like Exodites or PDFs or any number of "These guys are basically confined to specific worlds". They exist. There's a possibility to get models for them and the like...but it would just be so weird of an addition, because you're going to need an HQ+that unit+whatever else to "fill" it. And then it becomes Generic Army But With Big Stompy Things.
Armigers are the "infantry" for the Knight Houses. That's how it is now. Get used to it or don't get into it?

They're an army consisting of Lords of War. Even the Armigers, their lightest unit, are Lords of War.
That's not a "normal" army.

How would you have them be fielded?
Because if you dont want them as normal armies where would you play them?

The shield and hand flamer reference earlier in the thread got me thinking about representing household troops in Kill Team. There are plenty of facsimiles that could be made out of existing Kill Team factions with various Kill Team, 40k and Necromunda models.
And it would make a lot of sense for Knight houses to send household troops into crawly parts of hives, underground reactors and such where they couldn't get their knights.

I.e at least a full chapter of some nearby Astartes, Legions of Planetary Guard, likely whatever a "legion sized" force of Skitarri is, and likely a few regiments of actual full fledged Guard/Tempestus? I'm not able to draw on sources, except Armageddon, which I don't think was a titan FW.
Actually now that I think about it, there is really only 1 real Titan FW that is still functional, right? Mars? All others are just retrofit or repair places. The Warlord and the Warhound are from the DaOT, and there patterns lost. Same with Imperators/Emperor class.
So really it's just Mars, and that's it. Please tell me if I'm wrong.
Well, the existence of Lucius-pattern warlords implies Lucius still builds them. Equally, in the game Space Marine, Graia has "strategic value absolute" because warlord titans are listed amongst its products. Whilst most titans are Mars pattern, not all Mars-pattern titans are built on Mars.
I think it's fair to assume that only 'big name' forges are able to produce titans in legio strength, though, and there certainly all heavily protected.
And yes, Secutarii are a titan defence force. Notice that they have the [Legio] keyword, not [Forge World], for precisely this reason.
A warlord pattern is not lost and are still built. Warlord Titans are the most commonly built. It's Reavers that are rare. Lots of Titans are recovered and retrofitted after battle, if made combat ineffective/partially destroyed, but that is because that is quicker and less resource intensive than building completely from scratch. Also, the machine spirit being experienced is valuable, and if the princeps also survived, the synergy between the machine spirit and the princeps is key, arguably more valuable than the rest of the Titan itself.

One of my favorite HH books was actually mechanicum that went deeper into the connection between princeps and Titan connection, same thing between knight and pilot, but from the lore and reading it sounds almost like the connection between the machine spirit of a knight and a knight pilot is a hell of a lot stronger then titan and princeps

It's a different kind of connection - Knight houses are family, so the spirit of the knight (the Throne Mechanicum) might contain the echo of the current pilot's grandfather or uncle.

Princeps have to be extra careful with a Titan Machine Spirit, especially the larger classes. The stronger the Machine Spirit the more likely the Princeps is to be utterly subsumed by it and become braindead. The longer a Princeps is connected to a Titan the greater the risk and if the Titan experiences great pain/rage the Princeps can be subsumed anyway.

I wish GW had the gall to pull the trigger and just make epic again in 8mm scale for titanicus, then go one step further and bring back Battlefleet.
We did that once, it started off with BFG for space supremacy, picking landing sites etc etc. Then we did a few games of epic for different warzones on the planet. Then 40k for the left overs and smaller engagements. Then Necromunda for the special/black ops missions. We had a wicked awesome Games Master who made the whole thing flow. He wrote up different back ground pieces, made sure the armies where fighting for the right reasons. It was one of the most memerable gaming experiences I've ever had. It took about 8 months or so of weekly gaming sessions to determine the out come..... so much bloody fun.

That is exactly the type of thing I like to organize and play in. I've run a few similar campaigns.

I think in the lore, titans are always supported by huge armies. They are so big and important it just doesn't make sense to field them alone. But because in the lore, they are so hard to destroy, usually only other Titans are a threat to a Titan. So, the lore tends to focus on Titan vs Titan battles when it comes to the action part.

Usually yes, but there are plenty of instances of a Titan Legion being deployed by itself with only its supporting units, Titanicus for one. Though IIRC it was mentioned as being definitely not ideal or normal. The one part of the book where the one Titan is almost overwhelmed by infantry of the opposing titan legion was a good example. It was only saved by the timely arrival of friendly Skitarrii.
