I genuinely have no interest in them as a unit. I will get some for bits, but the whole idea of Bretonnia is cavalry lances charging and that is my goal.

If I had to use them, I would probably go with a list already leaning into foot troops, but not an Exile list either (no Ward). Trying to blend them with a cavalry list seems counterintuitive.

I think having them be an equivalent to Empire Greatswords is the way to go in a Grand Army list. Protect their flanks with Men-at-Arms and have some counter-charge Peg Knights or Grail Knights. Make them come to you vs you going to them.

Maybe something like this?

7x3 Foot Knights in the center, flanked by Men-at-Arms, bowmen wherever is best LoS. Pegs set up as a counter-charge element out of LoS if able, so they can come in and disrupt flanks when the enemy reaches you. The Duke goes after characters or flanks, Baron joins the Mounted Knights to act as a fast reaction unit. Paladin joins Foot Knights. Prophetess can join the Baron, or if the Horn is needed or you aren't using Self-range spells, just hang around as a Lone character. Bowmen soften up stuff as it moves in.

Not sure how that would actually perform, but it was just me trying to envision what they would do in a list. They will eat a charge and hopefully with 4+/6++ (and maybe Regen from the Prophetess) be able to swing back with their Great Weapons reliably.

Army list looks good, but it just feels like an Empire army instead of a Bretonnian one. As you said: a Bretonnia army is made out of lances breaking on the enemy.

Foot knights just feel out of place to me: they don't realy advance the Bretonnian gameplan.

I think they give some variety to the army and will help for more thematic battles (imagine a siege only with cavalry for example).

I just brought home the Knights on foot box and found myself asking the same questions. I figure they might work to reinforce an infantry contingent, serving as anvil to the mounted Knights' hammer. Hand weapon and shield feels fairly ineffective to me, so I'm tempted to go with two-handed weapons instead. But maybe we're not looking to kill anything with foot knights, but instead have more value in them hanging around and surviving?

What sort of list should I try to make to leverage the models I own?

I have this so far:

Duke on Royal Pegasus ~300p
2x Damsel lvl 2 wizard 180p
2x Paladin on foot with great weapon 132p

2x 6 Knights of the Realm full command 330p
4x 20 Men at Arms full command 416p
6x 20 Peasant Bowmen 660p
3 Pegasus Knights 186p
2 Field Trebuchet 200p

These models that I have put me at 2404 but I know it's probably not very optimal. How should I move what I've got so far into a real 3000p list?

Grail knights and more KotR should do it.

I would drop the two level 2 damsels and swap them out for one level 4 prophetess. Level 2 casters are practically useless against a level 4 and in a 3000 point match-up you are guaranteed to run into one.

Trebuchets are a fun option, but I would drop one if you can. Stonethrowers have always been a bit unreliable and with the larger base size do even less damage than they used to do. Keep one for fun and drop the other.

Your army is very infantry-based for a Bretonnia army; you;ve got 10 (!) infantry units of peasants, who really are not the part of the army you normally would want to focus on.

As already mentioned by others, I would invest in at least one other unit of knights (grail knights are great and the grail knights biy Highland Miniatures make them a manageable investment, or buy a box of knights of the realm).

I would also recommend buying another unit of pegasus knights: in the last few weeks i've come to the conclusion that they're one of our best units!

Finally, see if you can splash for one of the battle standard bearer models, as the upgrade is free for a Bretonnia army.

Hope that helps!
