Strange that independent stores get it before GW stores but long may it continue and enjoy it while it lasts before bean counters find out.

I suspect it’s at their very behest. After all, if FLGS (particularly smaller ones) order, then don’t receive? They’re less likely to continue carrying your product.

I know my friend’s FLGS is getting their stuff in-hand in advance of pre-order dates. So it may be an attempt to rebuild bridges and trust in that area.

I doubt it. This kinda thing just happens sometimes.

Anecdotal evidence: I was breaking open my Age of Darkness box a full five days before the official release date. My FLGS gave me a call they got my copies, I picked them up, and was content building marines. Imagine my confusion a few days later when I hopped onto Dakka and realized I was given almost a week head start of everyone else.

I would advise folks not to discuss their FLGSs breaking street date tho.

On that count? Can confirm my FLGS simply has them on-hand, ready for release date. He’s not fulfilling orders ahead of time.
