Not sure why buying into Heresy is a problem when it's largely plastic kits now. You're only buying Legion upgrades or special units and as has been noted by multiple people, smaller kits are less likely to have QC issues and the newer kits are even less likely to have them.

The only legit FW model i own is a tantalus and it was definitely not trivial to clean and assemble, but i was lucky and mine had a minimal amount of flash and no mold slipping. It's still a very old kit that is notoriously fiddly, I remember needing to do quite a lot of sanding/gap filling when i had to assemble the bridge that holds the sail.

Modern FW kits are much better at least, shame we can't know on the store if a certain model is old or new

OP is probably a amateur with resin work, that’s normal or slightly below for what’s necessary to prep the resin before painting. As someone with quite a bit of experience, I recommend you get the right tools and use them correctly: set of jewelry files, hand saw and mat, xacto, green stuff, clipper, 😷, hot water heater and container big enough to fit the resin parts, paper clips, handheld drill vise and drill bits, magnets, super glue, JB weld.

Or we could just insist that FW make a better product.

By all accounts, they're trying, and they have gotten better. Still too rich for me anyway, and I think that's the real problem (as others have pointed out): if you want to sell a model that requires extensive effort to salvage, simply avoid charging a premium price.

It’s been hit or miss for me over the years, my eldar vehicles have all been fine, tau mostly fine, Imperium all over the place!
Definitely the lowest grade of any resin I ever got as a whole.
It’s the whole “Did anyone look at it” shock I got a few times why I don’t buy, combined with the prices.

I had to stop buying FW kits @ 4 years ago as the quality didn't match the price tag in my opinion. I've bought resin kits from other companies with much less fuss.

For the OP, it would not be surprising what you bought is from FW judging from the photos you posted.

Apparently I've been quite lucky with the Forgeworld models I got, two Necromunda vehicles went together quite well, even though the plastic/resin hybrid was a bit annoying. The Necromunda propaganda models had one very small part that had snapped in half, is was extremely fiddly to get that fixed, but other then that I had no problems.
But those are rather new kits so it matches other people's results. The resin was well cured, not like TTCombat resin that refuses to hold any paint, regardless how much I scrubbed and cleaned it ....

It's normal for poorly cast resin. I've bought resin models from other companies that needed practically no prep work beyond gluing them together and some very minor mould line removal.

May well be that customer support already replaced it and he's selling on the crappy original... I think my resin Incubi came to me via that route!

why would anyone buy into a company that clearly cares so much about quality parts at crazy prices..... I hate GW for their shady and outright hostile attitude towards customers, but I can't seem to completely stop buying gak from them because it's hella quality - even my eldar walkers (20+year old kit) are leaps and bounds over many competitors....

I'm not sure what you're meaning now because plastic is a waaaaay better material than resin and as mentioned, a good chunk of the Heresy range is plastic and it will only continue in that direction.

Plastics came out in 2006. Yes we are old... Though I remember the Vyper releasing as well.

Ahh, the Vyper. Still a fantastic model. I forget which came first, the Vyper or the Falcon, but they were both late 2nd ed era, iirc.
