You think you can catch Keyser Soze? You think a guy like that comes this close to getting caught, and sticks his head out? If he comes up for anything it'll be to get rid of me. After that... my guess is you'll never hear from him again.

Do you mean 2nd Ed 40k or the v2 FAQs for 3rd Ed 40k? I don't recall 2nd Ed 40k requiring boatloads of FAQ clarifications,
If you have them, go have a flick through the White Dwarfs from the last half of 2nd edition's lifespan. From memory, most months included 2 or 3 pages of FAQs split (not always evenly) between 40K and Fantasy. Admittedly, a lot of those were just clarifications, but there were also a few substantial changes and additions (defining what constituted a 'field' save and limiting models to one of them, the Wargear card limitations, banning Terminators from taking Grenades, etc) made in an attempt to even up the game a little.

yes it was those monthly changes (usually a surprise to me as I couldn't afford WD back then) that made me quit 40K the first.

You guys are also forgetting that there were indeed online FAQs for 2nd edition, and while there was often debate about whether the online documents were "official" or not, the fact was there was at least 30+ pages of FAQs. I made a league booklet back in the day that had all of the 2nd Edition FAQs combined together and I can safely say there were much more FAQs back then. But I think something more important not to forget is that even with all those FAQs there were just as many (if not more) unanswered and unresolved issues with the game. 3rd edition was, by far, the cleanest (although nowhere near perfect) version of the rules sets. 4th edition would be except for the poor way they've handeled the 3rd edition codex vs. 4th edition rule FAQs.
