How in the world do you get rid of them?! For that matter, how do you get rid of mold lines anywhere where there is a lot of detail similar to that of a plasma gun's coils?

A file is obviously out of the question, because then the top would just be looking flat. A knife has the same effect; it flattens the top and takes away the whole "coil" thing it has going on.

With those two options out the window, how is it done?? Or am I missing something?

I use needle files of various shapes. And a lot of care.

I use a scalpel and gently draw the tip of the blade over the ribbed area several times. Yes you will lose some of the raised area but not enough to be noticeable...just be gentle. If you do it right the blade tip will make a ratcheting sound as it goes from dip to peak to dip on the ribbing.

Look at the coil on this Plasma gun I did...no mold line and virtually no detail loss.

My, my. I guess I was just applying too much pressure, but yeah, that is just very barely discernible.

A file will work, just draw it along the grooves in a motion parallel to them.
