The large blast marker (FWIW, the only template in regular 40k is the tear dropped shaped one). I believe it mentions this in the rules for markers, but, alas I don't have my book handy to confirm.

ummm..... Thats a negatory there buddy. "Regular 40k" as you call it, comes with 3 Templates. The flame (teardrop) Blast (small) and Ordanance(large). If your weapon specifies that its a blast weapon, you use the smaller circle, Large Blast or Ordinance uses the Large Blast, (or.....ordinance) template.

gregor has it right. The ordinance template is the large one. But remember, if shooting tanks, the center hole has to completely cover the tank in order to score a direct hit. Otherwise, the hit is half strength. For infantry anything under the template gets a face full.
Hope this helps.

Having never played Apoc rules, I can only assume the "Super-Heavies" like titans and huge tanks.

Actually, no. The two circles are referred to as the small and large blast markers. The template is the teardrop shape. GW often misprint this in their codices, but they actually erratad their mistakes in the Tyanid codex in the FAQ.

The first sentence of the asterisked note should be
changed to: “*If, after the final position of the first
blast marker in the barrage…”[/qoute]

All Ordnance Blast use the large Blast - somewhere in the rule book, pronbably under the rules for Ordnance.
The 7" and 10" Blast Markers are used by items such as Baneblade, you also have the Apocalypse Barrage marker, which is like a cloverleaf and is used by the Apocalypse Missile Launcher, the Orbital Bombardment Strategic Asset, etc.

It will say 7" Blast or 10" Blast if it wants you to use those markers. See the Shadowsword and it's variants for examples.

As pointed out, gregor_xenos is incorrect. There is only ONE "Template" in 40, the Teardrop one. The other two are Blast MARKERS.
