Yes at the tournaments and friendly play here in Texas, they don't allow special characters. Also saw the FAQ where you can't combine the Armor of Khorne with the Juggernaut armor save so thats why I didn't mount the khorne heralds. So - sample Daemon list I'm looking at, especially with the new Lord of Change model and plastic horrors:

Lord of Change, Lvl 3, Dark Magister (ignore Miscast), Master of Sorcery
Herald of Khorne BSB, Armor of Khorne
Herald of Khorne, Armor of Khorne
Herald of Tzeentch, Lvl 2, Master of Sorcery

24 Bloodletters, Full Command
24 Bloodletters, Full Command
15 Horrors, Standard Bearer
5 Chaos Furies
5 Chaos Furies

5 Flamers of Tzeentch
5 Flamers of Tzeentch

Lores of magic TBD, but I'm really leaning towards lores that can buff up the Bloodletters. Furies will almost be dedicated warmachine hunters. Thoughts?

Well playtesting the list, the magic dice either don't like me or it's just way too random on number of power dice.

Debating about switching out the Lord of Change with a Keeper of Secrets. Add in Soul Hunger and Siren Song works out to be the same points. Also dropping the number of horrors down to 10 and increasing the size of the fury units to 10 each.

The Keeper just seems to be about the nastiest thing daemons can throw at anyone in CC, with it also getting ASF and rerolls to hit basically every round now. Soul Hunger reroll to wound in first round of combat - very nice. Thunderstomp still goes last, but I'm guessing Soul Hunger would still apply to that as well (at least in the first round).

He's a Lvl 1 though, so I'm losing out on some dispel abilities.

I'm having second thoughts about Greater Daemons at any point level. Consider: for the same points as a greater daemon, you can have a block of 20 daemons, with attached Herald, and (depending on loadout) maybe enough left over for a Fiend or two (or a couple Flamers).

You might try 2 Heralds of Tzeentch (one as General, one as BSB), in two blocks of Horrors (or one really big one), in support of your two Bloodletter blocks. Take Master of Sorcery twice, for full access to both Life and Beasts (if you're looking for buffing), or maybe Beasts and (Metal or Death), for more blasting. All 4 Heralds (including Armor of Khorne on both Khornate guys) runs 535, leaving 25 pts for a Spell Breaker or something.

A giant block of Horrors gives you the same dispel ability as a Greater Daemon, plus some nice static combat resolution, in a resilient (4+ ward) package. You get better mastery of multiple Lores. And you up the body count significantly, with units who can't just pop to a single lucky warmachine shot.

Alternatively, you could consider a Daemon Prince, if you want a CC Lord. He can do almost the same job as you want the Keeper for, but cheaper - only 350 for a Prince with Unnatural Swiftness & Soul Hunger.
