The War Lion is just a mount me and my mate agreed upon which has similar rules to the great eagle. Only because I converted my lord to ride one lol. But when I battle someone who doesn't agree with it, I'll run him with the Bow of the Seafarer.

I updated it so that I took away the Starwood Staff from the mage and gave my 2 units of Lothern Sea Guard shields and I also traded a unit of Sword Masters for Phoenix Guard.

I quite like the list but i would swap 1 unit of swordmasters for pheonix guard as i think there the best unit to have a wizard in, 1 miscast whilst in a unit of pg is not so much of a pain.

I like the list, its got good shooting, magic, and the Swordmasters give you some great close combat defence

Was thinking of swapping out one unit of Sea Guard for just regular spearmen, which would give me an extra 60 points to spend on more Phoenix Guard and/or Swordmasters.
Would you guys agree with that?

Depends whats your playstyle/tactics?
If your going to stay back and shoot keep the sea guard there a pain to fight with stand and shoot then spear ranks fighting.

Lol I'm more of a 'charge forward with everything I have and hope' kinda guy :p haha

But I will be mainly up against an Empire gun-line, so I need to get up to my enemy pretty quickly lol.

That is true, but I'm not a fan on spending 17 points on a model tbh.
I might give it a try if all else fails though.

Well tbh its not going to go well unless he misfires everything if he goes 1st hes going to get 2 turns of cannonfire on the dragon and swordmasters are probably the easiest unit to kill with mortars.

As your against empire i would make the 25man unit of sword masters pheonix guard and maybe drop the rbt for 2 giant eagles.

If you drop the dragon you could get 5 dragon princes and mount your prince.

But the dragon is soooo cool lol. But I like the bolt thrower idea, and he isn't that using that heavy of a gun line. Something like 40 handgunners and I think a Volley gun. But he has 3 mages in his army which is the biggest problem.

The dragons over 25% i think anyway but definety switch the swordmasters out 40 gunners shooting and you get no armour save whilst the pheonix guard shrug off cannons etc and do nearly as well in combat. I play dwarfs and i hate pheonix guard they just dont die lol.

Drop the lance on the prince and he should be ok.

I was talking to the owner of my local gaming store and he was saying that mounts don't count towards the 25%. And I will do that, just have to wait till October for the new models to come out haha.
I want to buy something! Lol.

Yeah im pretty sure alot of people having to cut dragons/steagadons from lists unless 2k+ games.

Thats effing crap. AH I hate the new edition! Seriously whats the point of including those kinds of things in an army list if you can't include them in games which people will more likely play?

Yeah lol you can still buy a dragon that would make it a 2k list, ready for when people at your shop start buying more models.

So now I have to wait till September to actually buy something I can use in my list :( seems as I already have the High Elf Prince and Noble box.

No, thats one guys opinion on it, I'm still waiting to hear back from others. So far its Pauls word against this guys, and no offence to that guy but I'm gonna trust Paul first.

It should be said in the BRB. If it doesn't say that mounts are 'excluded' from a characters points cost then that's final.

It would be like saying wargear doesn't count towards the point percentage.

In the High Elf FAQ Version 1.1 it states

"Lords' and Heroes' Mounts"
Ignore "any dragon (including a sun dragon ridden by a dragon mage) takes up an additional hero slot"

Uh, that is because slots don't exist anymore? it's % based and duplicate units based restrictions now. Of course the damn dragon mount counts toward the 25%

Ok no need to get angry... jeez.
