I'm facing an empire player in my first game on saturday...

I'm under the assumption he'll take a gun line cus thats what empire do best.... Right???

So what should i use to counter it best?

I have two lists to play:

Grey seer W/ The Fellblade @ 340 points <General (30 Model Unit)
28 Clanrats W/ Clawleader, Musician, Standard Bearer & Shields @ 151 points

Warlock Engineer W/ Warpstone armour & Warp-energy condenser @ 195 points (30 Model Unit)
28 Clanrats W/ Clawleader, Musician, Standard Bearer & Shields @ 151 points

15 Giant Rats W/ 2 Packmasters @ 61 points >< Thats really low ^^ Love Giant Rat Point Values (17 Model Unit)

Warp-Lightning Cannon @ 90 points

Hell Pit Abomination W/ Warpstone Spikes @250

29 Plague Monks W/ Bringer-of-the-Word, Musician, Banner of the Under-Empire @ 260 points

OR:

Grey seer W/ Weeping Blade, Foul Pendant & Skalm @ 330 points <General (30 Model Unit)
28 Clanrats W/ Clawleader, Musician, Standard Bearer & Shields @ 151 points

Warlock Engineer W/ Warpstone armour & Warp-energy condenser @ 195 points (30 Model Unit)

25 Giant Rats W/ 5 Packmasters @ 115 Points (30 Model Unit)

Which would be more Suited?

The list with the storm banner ... IE add it :p

Id probably go with list 1 because rat ogres vs empire do nothing.. although the gutter runners are nice to kill war machines with

Why are you trying to make your grey seer fighty...

He will get obliterated by anything half decent at fighting.

Good lord, fellblade on the grey seer? He only gets a single attack with that thing. What's the thought process?

not to mention the fellblade would probably kill the grey seer before he even got into combat.

you want a fighty wizard? Get a plaguepriest and give him a warlock enhanced blade. 5 att, st 5. yum.

that list only had the fellblade because i'm havin a mactch against a Chaos Daemons player. my thought is that with just one attack i can still cause d6 wounds on him? and make him reroll his ward save?

Or is that just stupid ^^?

so if i take the 1s list, remove the 100 point sink drain, and then give my plague monks the Storm banner instead of the Banner of the Under Empire?

I've given the Plauge monks the Storm Banner and the Grey Seer a Dispel Scroll, Power stone and two Warpstone tokens.

Its not smart, ever.

The grey seer gets one attack at WS 3, meaning most the time he will be hitting on a 4, and on fighty lords more then likely, a 5.

So you have a 50-67% chance of not even landing the attack. Also theres a chance with bad rolls that your grey seer will die on turn three to the swords corruption.

Also the grey seer in combat will die, 90% of the time, in one round of combat to anything remotely fighty. You dont want him in combat. WS3 T3 with no saves.

The only way i take the felbalde now is on a completely naked warlord.
