I have recently purchased the new Cryx helljack and have not yet decided on which one to build. i like all of the stats for each of them but have not come any conclusion yet. any input?

Corruptors are a bit odd, but if you want anti-infantry go for 'em, though IMHO it's not the best 'jack by far.

Reapers aren't bad, but they're a tad focus-hungry as you'll probably want to boost the hit roll on the Harpoon, and use more focus on additional Helldriver attacks.

Slayer is the most generic, good against heavies, but also focus hungry.

My personal suggestion? Well, that depends. What's in your list?

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Reaper is my absoloute favorite helljack and is every army I run.

Harpoon and drag. Smack it a couple times.

Charge it with something else. Generally a Slayer.

So.. magnets. You need magnets.

There is a thin semantic line between weird and beautiful. And that line is covered in jellyfish.

I absolutely recommend magnets.
Though if you had to choose just one, I'd recommend the Reaper. The drag ability is extremely handy.

I read the rules on the reaper and im not completley sold on it, but i gotta test play it first.

I suggest building a Reaper or Corruptor. Then go to an online shop and find a metal Slayer for around $21.

I built a Cygnar heavy with the magnet swapping in mind.
I used magnets so strong, I got a blood blister when they pinched me.
It feels sloppy and loose even with direct magnet-magnet contact.
I will not be doing it again.
Once I use my Cygnar enough to know, I will be gluing the appropriate options for the one I choose.

Magnets seem to be a good idea, but are fiddly in gameplay

Use .125" X .063" Rare earth disc magnets, they have good hold, but not a ridiculous amount. Mine have worked perfectly and saved me a good bit of cash for not having to buy another kit for Discordia.

That is the size and type of magnet I used.

I just didn't like the flimsyness they give to the jack. Its already plastic, and ultra light.

I'm not really a fan of magnets myself because I like to give the `Jacks some level of dynamic posing and that does not work as well when all the parts come off.

As for which of the three `Jacks in question are best, I think it really comes down to what else is in the list. I've had fun with a Slayer in the past, though I've found I much prefer the Seether, and converted both of my plastic `Jacks into Seethers.

Reaper has never done a whole lot for me really, but I've only used one a couple of times, and now I probably won't use one again because I like Malice so much more.

Corrupter I've not used at all. I do intend to get a pair of Slayers and a Corrupter for when I make a pGaspy theme list though (he gets them 1pt cheaper).

I like the idea of pGaspy and Corrupters.
Shooting Corrupter with Breath is accurate and it doesn't get hurt and now has a cloud effect to get a Def boost.

Though expensive FOC wise.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Magnets. Much as I love the Slayer, the Corruptor is quite compelling.

The Reaper is nice on its own, but it also has a couple very nice combos.

The first being that it can drag jack's into range of the Withershadow Combine (or standard jack killers) without over exposing the Combine itself.

The second more nefarious combo is specifically with eSkarre's Black Spot.
Harpoon hits damages and drags Black Spotted target.
Drag generates a Helldriver attack
Helldriver kills target generating a Black Spot Harpoon attack.
Harpoon drags and generates Helldriver attack.
Helldriver kills and generates a Black Spot Harpoon attack.
Rinse, repeat.

It only works against multi-wound models, but it can generate a bunch of attacks for minimal focus cost.

Even without the combos, it has drag. Any ability that allows you to move your opponent's models can be extremely powerful. For starters, you can clear charge lanes to more important targets, or move models out of allocation/reaving/leach/transfer/command/aura range.

And even if you ignore drag, it still has sustained attack!

All in all, it is a very solid jack at a bargain price.

Magnetize and also pre-order your Malice upgrade kit!

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

I also suggest that you magnetize it. for a little bit more cash you get three models to the prize of one!

Myself i used a new plastic helljack for malice. he deserves it

I magnetised mine too but I pretty much always field him as a slayer, the corrupter has always been pants for me and the reaper never seems to hit home!

Seems like magnetizing is the way to go.
