I think I've got wound allocation down pretty well.
basically, wounds have to be spread out evenly, so if 15 models take 15 hits, every model has to take one hit.

however, in a situation where you have more, but not necesarily enough to cause two hits to every man, you can place all of them on normals, yeah?

What I mean:

10 tacs w/ flamer and ml take 18 hits.

I can put 14 hits on the seven normal marines, and then four on the specials, or do I have to put more on the special troops?

Sorry, I should probably know this, and it seems to be in the right frame for spreading them out enough, but I could always be wrong, lord knows I've been wrong in the past.

Oh well. we learn by asking.

That's correct. Except you have one on the flamer, one on the missile launcher guy, and one on the sarg and then a second wound on one of those three.

Remember that, although you have placed them on seperate bolter guys, when you actually take saves you will have grouped them all together.

It depends on what you want - more casualties but retain specials, or fewer casualties but only bolter marines left.

One of the other cool things you can do with wound allocation is screw people out of power weapon and low ap wounds by assigning multiple of them to the same unique model when over wounded. Any example of this would be you have a five man combat squad with an ML and 4 bolters, you are about to be charged. They shoot you with 2 plasma pistols and 8 bolt pistols and cause 2 plasma wounds and 4 bolt wounds, you can give both plasma wounds to the ML guy and effectively take only one casualty from the two ap2 wounds.

Yeah, I tend to put as many Armour deniers on the same guy as possible.

Really? I thought unsaved wounds carried over.

Example:
Squad of 5 Marines including sarge take 9 Wounds, AP less than matters
You put 1 wound on sarge, 8 wounds on standard marines
Sarge saves, but you fail 6 of the other armor saves (bad roll! )
I thought all 5 models were removed. Does the sarge really live to fight on?

Yes. Only models (in the group) taking saves can be wounded.
