Somewhere in the dark...

Are dark angel terminators always deathwing or can they use 'normal' terminators? If they can only be deathwing, it would be a bit weird since then, all the dark angel marines would wonder where their terminators are. I read angels of darkness and it seems most dark angels dont know about the deathwing. thanks for being patient on this one XD

DA terminators are always members of the deathwing

that is weird - so whenever a dark angel sees a deathwing terminator, they would wonder who it is. How could you possibly keep the deathwing a secret from other dark angels? I was hoping to buy AOBR and paint the marines dark angels. would i have a weapons/wargear representation problem with the terminators in AOBR?

Deathwing = DA first company. The SM first company is always the terminators.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

But if they do have terminators, they are in that company. Or function as an honor guard.

there are only two chapters (SW/GK) that can go anywhere near the amout of terminator suits DA have
every else uses guard squads in the first

Did I contradict what you're saying? I don't think so, sorry if I did?

The Codex Astartes dictates that a 1st company of Space Marines should comprise of 100 marines, all with access to Terminator Armour, and who should equip themselves as Terminator Squads, Sternguard Squads or Vanguard Squads as is appropriate for the engagement. However, newer chapters do not have access to enough suits of Terminator Armour to equip all 100 1st Company Veterans, so commonly have 0 to 10 dedicated 5-man Terminator squads, and the remainder as dedicated Sternguard/Vanguard.

The Dark Angels are not a new chapter, they are indeed the oldest chapter, being the first of the Legions to be created. They have enough Terminator Armour to equip the entire first company, and eschew Sternguard/Vanguard units in favour of always being equipped with mixed-equipment Terminator 'Deathwing' units. Dark Angels still field Veteran Squads, but there are more correctly called 'Company Veteran Squads' and unlike most chapters - where veteran squads are drawn from the 1st company - Dark Angels Company Veteran Squads are the greatest warriors drawn from a single Company (3rd to 9th) chosen to fight together as a single elite squad.

The existence of the Deathwing is not a secret within the Dark Angels. However, the existence of the Fallen, and the Dark Angel's endless hunt for them is. Acceptance into the Deathwing is also entry into the Inner Circle - the cabal of marines in the chapter who know of the Fallen and of the chapter's shame and quest for redemption.

Very funny. I wrote it. It's called 'Being bored and slacking off at work'.

Summary of points:

All Dark Angel Terminators are Deathwing.
All Deathwing are Terminators.
All Deathwing are members of the Inner Circle.
Not all Inner Circle members are Deathwing (also includes Interrogator-Chaplains, the Librarians, Master of the Forge and Grand Masters).
Dark Angels Veteran Squads are neither Deathwing nor Inner Circle.

The existence of the Deathwing is not a secret - it's their chapter's entire first company. However, the Deathwing keeps certain secrets and carries out certain secret activities.

I won't bother.
